This Sicilian site is nicely named: it's just a couple of kilometres from the spectacular Valley of the Temples, the biggest archaeological site in the world and one of the best-known attractions in Sicily and Italy. As the kids may not be overly interested in that (tsk), make the first fact you share about Camping Valle dei Templi that it's only 600 metres or so from here to the Mediterranean and long lengths of stunning Sicilian beaches. Heaps more are nearby for sandy and sea-based times too: Camping Valle dei Templi is in Sicily's Agrigento province, which has around 150 kilometres of coastline for small explorers to scramble around and fully investigate. (And for the grownups? The Agrigento province is also famed for its wine.) Camping Valle dei Templi is a spacious site, welcoming families and groups, and shaded by olive trees for cooling off from the Sicilian sun. Its plentiful facilities include a pretty outdoor pool with solarium alongside, and a fably-equipped playground with slides, climbing nets, a treehouse and a splendid big pirate ship. The site is a couple of minutes' walk from two mini markets and a grocery shop; close to a bakery, chemist, fishmonger and butcher, and a 500-metre stroll from the coastal path and its several restaurants, shops and ice cream parlours. But aim for some meals at least in the swish site restaurant-pizzeria, to have eats indoors or out on the spacious bar area terrace – and for morning coffees under the Sicilian sun on the Valle dei Templi verandah before another day on the beach.

Great location for Valley of the Temples, close to bus/shop. Friendly staff, clean site with nice pool. Many liked the shaded pitches & access. Some found facilities old & pricey. Noise from campers/traffic was an issue for a few, but quiet hours are enforced.

Liked Der Platz ist schön angelegt mit sehr vielen Bäumen und zu dieser Jahreszeit ist es wunderschön grün. Die Sanitär Anlagen sind in die Jahre gekommen aber werden gut und regelmässig gereinigt. Der Platz liegt nur wenige Geh- Minuten zum Strand bzw. zur Promenade, 2 Supermärkte in der Nähe und der Bus zur Ausgrabung fährt direkt vor den Toren des Platzes.

Disliked Viele Plätze sind sehr abschüssig man benötigt Auffahrkeile und etwas Kreativität dann kann man gut stehen.
Wlan haben wir nicht getestet das netz ist aber generell eher mau.

Local attractions

It's not generally (read: ever) recommended to compel kids to trail around historic sites with geeky grownups, but an exception must be made for the fab Valley of the Temples, within walking distance. Lauded as one of the best examples of ancient Greek architecture and art in the world, the valley has the remains of seven ancient Greek temples over its 1,300 hectares, including those dedicated to Hercules, Juno and Zeus: compare the Greek gods to modern superheroes if you must to get a flicker of interest from your offspring. The 18 rooms of the Agrigento archaeological museum are also well worth a potter around if you can. Elsewhere, beaches, sunbathing and watersports such as sailing, snorkelling, surfing, windsurfing and canoeing are all at your disposal around the Agrigento province. Or just set off on a bike ride around the coast and along the local stretch of the 602-kilometre SIBIT Trapani-Siracusa route, passing spectacular beaches, UNESCO sites and the Marsala sand dunes. Agrigento city is 10 minutes' drive away.
