  • Family site a 10-minute walk from well-equipped beaches in Cervia
  • Mirabilandia theme park 15 minutes’ drive; Ravenna half an hour
  • Swimming pool; food shop and restaurant; cycle hire
You might know it for its hedonistic party vibe, but the lively Romagna Riviera has heaps to recommend it to families, too. First of all, its beaches, which are impeccably maintained; second of all, the gentle slope of the shallow Adriatic Sea, which means that young children can splash around confidently in its waters; finally, there are plenty of child-friendly attractions along this coast, including amusement parks like Mirabilandia (15 minutes’ drive) and Fiabilandia (40 minutes). And Adriatico Family Camping Village, a peaceful holiday village in the heart of Cervia, puts you within easy reach of all that. How nice is it not to have to drive to the beach? Instead of stressing about where to park the car on a hot summer’s day, take a 10-minute stroll along a tree-lined boulevard… and voilà (or ‘ecco’, in Italian): you’re at a large expanse of sand with multiple establishments renting sun loungers and umbrellas. It’s the same happy story when it comes to sourcing food supplies. In addition to an on-site store that sells all the essentials (bread, milk and produce), there are several supermarkets and grocery shops within a 15-minute walk. Don’t fancy cooking? The resort restaurant serves wood-fired pizzas, seafood dishes and grilled meats, plus a simple menu (with lots of chips) for fussy children. When you’re not at the beach or relaxing at the on-site pool, you might want to hire a bike and pedal to the historic centre of Cervia or to the Park of the Saltern of Cervia (both 10 minutes by bike), or just ride along the seafront promenade, stopping for ice cream at beachside kiosks.

Electric grass and earth pitch

Electric grass and earth pitch

Liked: Sehr nettes Team in der Anlage. Gepflegte Sanitäreinrichtungen, große Stellplätze. Sehr Hunde- freundlich. Gute Lage, trotz Entfernung zum Strand.

Disliked: Stellplätze könnten etwas gepflegter sein, das Angebot im Mini Market etwas vielfältiger. Schlechtes bis gar kein WLAN.

Electric grass and earth pitch

Liked: Personale molto gentile in ogni occasione.

Local attractions

Eight early Christian monuments in Ravenna (half an hour’s drive) form an impressive complex inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage list. They include the Mausoleo di Galla Placidia, the Basilica of San Vitale and Archbishop’s Chapel of St. Andrew, all of which are embellished by exquisite Byzantine mosaics. If the Adriatic Sea is too gentle for your liking, head to Aquafan (40 minutes), an aquatic park with twisting waterslides (including the 200-metre-long Black Hole), a funnel-like ride and a massive wave pool. Child-friendly attractions include shallow pools with gentler slides. Take a trip abroad and visit San Marino (55 minutes), inland from Rimini, atop Monte Titano mountain. Admire views of the Apennines from Liberty Square or from the forbidding Guaita Tower, before heading to the neoclassical Basilica of Saint Marinus or the atmospheric Museo delle Creature della Notte - Vampiri e Licantropi, with displays on vampires and werewolves.
