Whatever your holiday style, you should be happy with the setup at PfefferHÄUSL, five minutes’ drive from the historic town of Regen and surrounded by the spectacular scenery of the Grosser Arber (the highest peak in the Bavarian range), Silberberg and Geisskopf mountains.
Offering pitches with electric hook-ups, this site may be gateway to numerous outdoor activities for all seasons, but it’s also a place to relax on a sun lounger by the swimming pond, relax in the wood-fired sauna and ease any aching muscles in the infrared cabin at the site’s wellness hub.
And of course, you can experience Bavarian hospitality first hand at the site’s lively restaurant, with its breakfast buffet and menu of regional dishes like breaded schnitzel (takeaways are also available), the suntrap beer garden and occasional evening entertainment from Bavarian folk bands.
Practical facilities to make life easy for you on site include well-kept showers and loos, a parent-and-baby washroom and a launderette; there’s also a tree-shaded play area with slides and swing.

Disliked Tiny pitches, too close together. This is a hotel where an area of the car park has been fenced into 10 small areas, 7 small, 3 slightly larger. There's no outside tap or washing up area. One toilet and one shower. Campervan use only.

Numerous cycling and hiking trails start directly from the pitches, while the Ameisenstrasse (Ant Trail, 10 minutes’ drive) is a nature route designed especially for kids to explore the forest. If you’re holidaying in winter, there are several ski areas close by; the nearest is Grosser Arber (20 minutes), which has pistes lined with fir trees, plus night skiing and a family zone with magic carpets and nursery slopes for novices.
PfefferHÄUSL is less than five minutes’ walk from the bus stop for services to Silberbergbahn Freizeitanlagen (10 minutes), a year-round recreation area where you can whizz downhill on the all-weather coaster, splash around in the wave pool and let younger kids loose on the playground.
If regional history is what you’re after, climb steep steps to the clifftop ruins of dramatic Weissenstein Castle (10 minutes); at the top you’ll be rewarded with far-reaching views over the Bavarian Forest. In Regen (five minutes), you can learn about the heritage and farming tradition of Bavaria at the Niederbayerisches Landwirtschaftsmuseum, discover the ethereal glass trees at the Gläserner Wald sculpture walk and enjoy scenic strolls along the Schwarzer Regen riverbanks.
