Camping Le Coin Tranquille

Head to Lac d’Aiguebelette half an hour away, for beaches, supervised swimming and watersports including paddleboarding, canoeing and pedalos. There’s a fab adventure park over here too – Accro’Lac has treetop adventure courses and also offers canyoning trips into the surrounding mountains. Another lake that’s worth a trip is Lac de Paladru, 20 minutes’ drive from the site – not only a lovely place for a wander but also a rich source of aquatic archaeological finds, many of which you can see displayed in a museum in Charavines at the lake’s southern end. Nearby is the Château de Virieu, a medieval building that was extended many times up to the 18th century. For a family day out, the Walibi Rhône-Alpes theme park is about 20 minutes away by car. Also worth a visit is the Domaine des Fauves zoo five minutes from the site, where you can see a collection of wild cats large and small.
