Shaded by the tall maritime pines and holm oaks of the Forêt de Suzac, Ideal Camping has spacious pitches on the outskirts of the seaside resort of St-Georges-de-Didonne, in the Charente-Maritime department. What’s your pleasure? Sandy beaches, perhaps? Then you'll be pleased to hear that the long crescent of Plage St-Georges-de-Didonne is only 200 metres away. You can unfurl your towel and relax on the golden sand as soon as you arrive – or, if you feel active, walk (or cycle) to the lighthouse at the northern end of the beach, then continue on past the headland to another sandy beach at Royan. Whatever you do, it pays to stay at the beach until early evening, as there's often a spectacular sunset. There’s also plenty to do on site, starting with a waterpark with pools (including a paddling area), slides and a Jacuzzi. Kids can also let off some steam in the well-equipped playground, or challenge their mates at the ping-pong table or on the multisport field. During peak season, the site also runs a lively entertainment programme with such activities as boules competitions, live music events and themed soirées. Barbecues are allowed, and a mini market on site sells a wide range of foodstuffs (including buttery croissants and freshly baked baguettes for breakfast). Alternatively, the snack bar serves burgers, pizzas and pasta dishes, or you can explore the restaurants and cafés in the centre of St-Georges-de-Didonne (five minutes’ drive). The site has twelve well-equipped and well-maintained toilet blocks with hot water and select equipment adapted for people with reduced mobility. There's also a launderette.

Great spot near the beach, with top-notch, clean facilities. Staff are super friendly. Kids love the pool! Some say pitches are a bit close, less privacy. Mostly quiet, though neighbours can sometimes be noisy. Paid WiFi available.

Disliked J'attendais de donner mon avis avec impatience !!....
La réponse du camping va être:
" Nous sommes navrés que votre séjour ne vous ai pas totalement satisfait, nous faisont notre maximum pour nous améliorer et espérons voir accueillir a nouveau pour de prochaines vacances " un truc dans ce genre....

Parlons du camping :
Il y a 3 pauvres animations PAR SEMAINE et qui se terminent à 22h30 en général, sanitaires vétustes, surveillant piscine peu aimable avec son sifflet tel un arbitre de football, bassins interdits avec un masque de plongée et tuba, il arrose les chaussures qui sont sur les étagères à l'entrée avec le tuyau d'arrosage, interdiction de déplacer tous les transats. Fermeture de la barrière d'entrée aux véhicules à 22h.
Pas de papier hygiénique dans les toilettes.
Certains emplacements camping-car sont trops petits ou mals agencés.

Liked Camping ombragé, familial et fonctionnel avec notamment sa supérette , son bar/restaurant et sa proximité pour accéder à la plage.
Son point fort : la piscine adaptée pour tous publics

Disliked • Énormément de bruits la nuit ( pas possible de dormir avant 1h du matin…).
• les emplacements ne sont pas délimités par des haies , du coup nous passons notre séjour en tête à tête avec les voisins lors des repas …
• Les blocs sanitaires sont propres avec un personnel de nettoyage symptomatique. Il manque néanmoins des poubelles et raclettes de nettoyage dans les douches) Le bloc sanitaire n’est pas « adapté » au camping (5 douches et 6 WC, donc pas mal d’attente tous les jours)

Liked The site was super friendly and we felt safe, which is so important nowadays. The pool was great fun and the evening entertainment was great fun. The staff at the restaurant were so kind and really made us feel welcome. So many great things to do. I late night market really made it a memorable holiday.

Disliked In communications prior to our visit we received a really nice email stating that,

“ The pitch blooked for you is shaded and there is a place for your car (a parking) in front of your pitch”

Unfortunately our pitch O08 had no shade whatsoever throughout the day from 8.00am until 19:30pm. In temperatures that exceeded 30 degrees daily, spending time on our pitch during the day became unbearable

Local attractions

With its coastal habitats, inland seas and mudflats, the Parc Naturel Marin de l’Estuaire de la Gironde (10 minutes’ walk) provides shelter to a large number of migratory birds, including ducks and geese. If you’re lucky, you might also be able to spot bottlenose and common dolphins, plus grey seals. Sitting on a small island in the middle of the Gironde estuary, the Cordouan Lighthouse can be accessed only by boat from either Royan (15 minutes’ drive) or Le Verdon-sur-Mer (50 minutes). Climb the 301 steps to the top of this elegant 17th-century beacon (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) to take in far-reaching views of the coastline. Zoo La Palmyre (25 minutes) is home to hundreds of animals – from big cats to primates, and from crocodiles to birds like colourful flamingoes and macaws. There are shows featuring sea lions and bird displays, or you can feed zoo-supplied corn to the resident giraffes and zebras.
