  • Close to the Bay of the Somme; bike paths to the coast nearby
  • Sailing, kayaking, fishing and seal spotting all available nearby
  • Playground, crazy golf, pétanque and summer events
Pondering passing some time in Picardie? Fancy taking a trip to the spectacular Bay of the Somme – for boat outings, seal spotting and peaceful bayside pedalling? Stay close to the water at Pendé's Camping De La Baie, right by the region's cycle paths leading direct to the coast and its bay. As you might have figured, Camping De La Baie's coastal locale has it sorted for watery, sporty and cultural days out easily accessible nearby, like sailing and kayaking on the bay, fishing along the shore, day tripping around seaside towns or – much recommended – kicking up sand with a horse ride along the beach. The cycle paths nearby run straight to the bay; bike hire is available on site. Good swimming beaches in the locale include Cayeux-sur-Mer and Saint-Valery-sur-Somme (within 10 minutes' drive) and Le Crotoy 20 minutes' drive away. And if you fancy the sandy beaches of Côte d'Opale, Fort-Mahon-Plage and Quend Plage are some fine options; they're both a 35-minute drive Back at base, De La Baie is a peaceful, pet-friendly and family-friendly place, with a good range of facilities including crazy golf, free wifi, volleyball and pétanque courts, ping pong tables and a playground. Events like gigs, pétanque tournaments and karaoke are arranged for guests in July and August. Amenities include a toilet block accessible for guests with disabilities, hot showers, gas sales and a washing-up area. A bakery delivers fresh produce to the site every morning in high season; for other foodie supplies there are shops and restaurants in Saint-Valery-sur-Somme (10 minutes away by car or bike).

Electric grass pitch (comfort)

Liked Very quiet campsite, all flat pitches. Great lo action for cycling into St Valery sur Somme and surrounding villages

Disliked Tent pitches were all close to the toilet block. Though that wasn't so bad really.

From the manager: Bonjour, merci pour votre commentaire et notes.
Une autre fois si vous le souhaitez nous avons des emplacements éloignés du sanitaires qui sont rarement demandés.
Cordialement

Electric grass pitch (comfort)

Liked Good facilities, hot water in shower , large pitches well divided by hedges, friendly reception staff.

Disliked Had to pick up dog poo from my pitch on arrival … maybe not campsite owners fault but did see other poop around .. maybe needs a bit more checking from staff. Lots of glass in parking area outside site … again just needs a bit of TLC ..

Peace and quiet…

Electric grass pitch (comfort)

Liked Very welcoming reception. Good, but old, washroom facilities. Drive over motorhome service point. Standard blue electric (polarity reversed on our pitch). Level grass pitches.
About an hour's level walk through fields/cycle path to the town centre.

Disliked Access road to pitches quite narrow for manoeuvring in.

Garden electric grass pitch (privilege)

Liked Quiet site clean facilities and washing up area etc.

Disliked No toilet seats or toilet rolls no snack bar open and bar shut at 7 rather tired site but ok for a stopover from Calais onto Brittany

From the manager: Hello, thank you for your feedback and the positive comments.

The negative comments you wrote will be helpful to other customers, and we thank you for this reminder.
(Although it has already been stated on the website that reservations are not necessary if this bothers you.)

Reminder: The snack bar is open Saturday evenings and the bar all day, and Saturday evenings during the off-season (off-season is cheaper, so there's less service!!). You didn't even set foot there....!!

The barrier is active from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.; it's written everywhere; we cannot accommodate your schedule.
You didn't mind calling us at 6:40 a.m.; thank you for your respect.
Sincerely,

Definitely stay again

Local attractions

After some days cantering along the beach on horseback pretending you're on a film set, investigate the other options in the Camping De La Baie surrounds, on and around the Bay of the Somme and inland around Pendé and the villages and towns of Picardie. Ask the Camping De La Baie team about kayak hire or boat trips to get out onto the water – do keep an eye out for seals on your way – or hire a bike on site and pedal to and along the coast. Sea fishing is available in the bay or inland at countryside rivers and ponds. The Aquaclub de Belle Dune waterpark at Fort-Mahon-Plage should make a big splash if you're on the coast with the kids: on offer are indoor and outdoor pools, waterslides, wave machines and waterfalls, and a sauna, Jacuzzi and wellness centre for a more pampery grownup vibe.
