‘A little slice of paradise’ is how the owners of Camping du Bois de Beaumard describe their place… and you’ll probably be able to see why with just a glance at the pics of this Pays de la Loire site full of mature trees and lush lawns. It’s a peaceful and green place indeed – and it’s not just the site itself that’s got a lot to offer on the natural views front. The location about five minutes’ drive from Pontchâteau also puts it just outside the Brière Regional Natural Park, one of the largest wetlands in France and a lovely place to hike, look out for wildlife or take boat rides. The natural park runs right down to the coast, so you’ll also be within easy reach of seaside activities here, including beach days, coast walks or strolls around seaside towns. Back at the site, the owners have done a great job in striking the balance of providing plenty of amenities while still maintaining a peaceful atmosphere. Keeping the kids busy should be fairly straightforward – they’ll be able to pick from games of table football, table tennis and pétanque, bounce on the trampolines or meet a gang of small animals at the farmyard. Additional services in high season include a snack bar and a grocery store with ice creams and fresh breads and pastries. For other food needs, there are plenty of shops, supermarkets, bakeries and restaurants in Pontchâteau.

  • No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.
  • The bar and/or restaurant is open between 01/07 et 31/08.
  • The grocery shop is open between 01/07 et 31/08.
  • Dogs are not allowed if you are staying in the accommodation units.
  • Twin axle vehicles are not permitted on site.

  • The site caters for families (immediate members) and couples only - bookings from all other forms of groups are not accepted.
  • At least one of the party members must be aged 18 or over.
  • The bar is open between 01/07 and 31/08.
  • Guests must bring their own duvets, pillows, sheets and towels when staying in rental accommodation. You will not be allowed to stay if you do not bring these items.
  • No naked flames are allowed inside the hired accommodation units.
  • Please note that the toilet/shower facilities are unisex.
  • No charcoal barbecues allowed.
  • If reception is closed on arrival: please contact the number provided on your booking confirmation.

Liked The site is small and welcoming. Very relaxing. Facilities well kept and clean.
Sam, the host, very friendly and helpful. Access is straightforward with very good signposting.
Chickens and rabbits roam free.
A short drive takes you to the marshland regional park with many interesting places to visit.

Disliked It did not bother us but there is some background road noise.

A great little site with friendly staff for a relaxing stay

Liked Lovely, small site on the edge of a wood. Very friendly reception. Very good facilities. Great ambience with a variety of for birdsong all around. A great place for a relaxing rural stay which we used as a base for visits to Vannes and the delightful seaside towns of Pénestin, Piriac-sur-Mer and Le Croisic. We really enjoyed being visited by the owner’s chickens and rabbits that popped up by our pitch regularly.

Liked Loved everything about this wonderful campsite so clean , green and spacious site. Owners were so friendly and welcoming. Pizza was great in the evening too . Would definitely come back and recommend to all .

Liked Beautiful wooded site with chickens and rabbits running round. Has all the amenities, including excellent WiFi and is easy to find. Pontchateau nearby has all the shops etc. and it’s a half hour drive to explore the coast. The owners are friendly and very helpful. I’d go out of my way to stay here if I were travelling through.

A small but friendly and intimate site worthy of a visit.

Liked Very welcoming site owner with passable English if you struggle with your French. (He loves to talk!!!)
The site is small but intimate with hedging to separate plots and adjacent to a small wood.
If you have a dog, be aware that there are rabbits and chickens roaming free. It's very nice and back to nature but our dog was a complete pain.
The toilet and shower facilities were very new and spotlessly clean. Always a sign of a well run site.

Disliked Why can't French owned sites provide toilet paper. It only encourages visitors to use alternatives to tissue and flush them away. A no no for most site plumbing.

The pitches were short on grass and a bit damp after recent rain.

No facilities within walking distance.

Local attractions

A visit to the salt marshes of Brière Regional Natural Park is a must, whether you head out on foot or take a guided tour on a traditional flat-bottomed boat (20 minutes’ drive away). While you’re touring your surroundings, stop by at Le calvaire de Pontchâteau (five minutes), to see the life-sized Stations of the Cross statues at this atmospheric religious site, which was partially destroyed before being restored in 1821. Trip to the coast? You’ll have a huge choice of places to go – perhaps the long sandy beaches of Pénestin (half an hour) or any of the cliffs and coves along the Côte d’Amour (40 minutes) or Côte de Jade (45 minutes). The fishing ports of La Turballe (40 minutes) and Le Croisic (55 minutes) are well worth a visit, as is the lovely medieval walled town of Guérande (half an hour). For family days out, leap across the floating inflatables at Espace Quilly (20 minutes), experience getting close up to a huge submarine at Sous-marin Espadon (half an hour).
