What customers say

A gem! Peaceful site, warm welcome. Spacious, private pitches. Clean, modern facilities. Owners super helpful with local tips & bakery drops. Shower pressure sometimes low, but overall a top spot for short or long stays.

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked Friendly welcome from very nice hosts.

Disliked We were only stopping over for one night after a long drive but the pitch (number 16) we stayed on smelled strongly of urine (possibly from guests’ dogs on site and after lack of rain throughout the summer) but it made the stay very unpleasant. By morning , we just wanted to pack up and get out of there. There was only one sink in the men’s loos which meant queues for brushing teeth which we simply didn’t experience anywhere else and there was hand sanitiser used in dispensers rather than soap which just wasn’t pleasant. The good reviews made us choose this site but it fell well under par with other sites that we’d visited on our road trip which had much lowers review scores. Overall the site appeared shabby and neglected despite great reviews on pitchup. Just felt a bit dirty. Sorry guys but it needs a bit of work!

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked The best warm and friendly hosts. Just nice people being kind. Also we liked the silent during the night. No highway or traffic noise, clean facilities, ideal for a pit stop night during a road trip. The boulanger was in holiday so the owner went to shop croissants and baguette himself to bring them fresh in the morning after ordering, those things where you see them making a good effort. MERCI 💚

Liked Made to feel very welcome and at ease. Homemade pizza available on site as well as a selection of wine or beer. Toilet/showers very clean and useable. Only 45 min from calais and owner even gives tips on quickest and cheapest route back to the ferry! Avoiding un necessary tolls etc. would stay again

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked We arrived in the evening to a lovely warm welcome that made it feel more like you were being welcomed to a home more than a campsite. We were offered the very welcome option to purchase home made pizza which after our long journey was delivered to our patch at a time of our choosing.
We had the choice of several huge flat pitches all surrounded by high hedges which made it feel very private. The site was quiet and facilities lovely and clean.
We only stayed for one night on our way back to calais but the welcome was as good as if we had been staying 2 weeks. Nothing was too much.
We would definitely use again as an over night stop but felt had we had more time we would have like to stay longer as it was such a lovely site.
Thank you to Julie and Nicolas for making the last night of our holiday so comfortable.

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked Wow, what a gorgeous site! We stayed here at the end of our trip for somewhere to relax before heading home, and it didn't disappoint! Check in was super easy, we were shown to our pitch by the lovely Julie who also explained where everything was. We had the option of ordering pizza to our pitch, this was a winner for the family! The pitch was lovely, well maintained and the hedge surrounding made it feel like our own little haven. The kids really enjoyed the play area with the sports court. Would definitely recommend this site to anyone who wants to relax.

Local attractions

The huge 1,200-hectare forest of Clairmarais lies less than two kilometres away from Camping Le Bloemstraete, for scenic hikes and bike rides among its old oak trees while you keep a beady eye out for owls and grey herons. You can also trek around a trail that winds past the pond of Harchelles (built by monks) to the pilgrimage site of the Clairmarais grotto, which lies among the woodland. Then, climb aboard a bacôve (flat-bottomed marsh boat through the maze of waterways that make up the UNESCO-listed Audomarois marsh, set around the historic cultural centre of Saint-Omer. Also around this area is the Platier d'Oye nature reserve, the first feeding area for migrants birds en route to their winter homes and so an excellent spot for birdwatchers. Other good sightseeing options in the area include the World War II bunker complex of La Coupole, and the historic town of Cassel with fab historical spots such as an 18th-century hilltop wooden windmill, the cobblestoned Grand'Place, a Flemish Gothic-style church, a museum and lots of photogenic 16th-century Flemish buildings.
