- Quiet rural hamlet next to a forest with views over the Agout river
- Three kilometres from Lacrouzette and 35 minutes' drive from Castre
- Peaceful setting, wildflowers, pool and tennis and pétanque courts
As you'll know if you've been fortunate enough to have had a hol there, the Tarn department in the Midi-Pyrénées is one of the most spectacularly scenic regions in the whole of France.
Soak it up from Gîtes de Thouy – a small rural hamlet on the edge of a forest where you’ll be treated to views over the Agout river, and from a setting within the Haut Languedoc Regional Natural Park for days of hiking among these splendid scenes. The site is also close to the Sidobre, one of Europe's biggest granite mountain areas and its famed and unusually-shaped boulders: this is a land of legend, so do meander along.
There's a peaceful rural atmosphere on site, with wildflowers all around and a quiet location where you can settle down for restful afternoons. Or avail yourself of the excellent Gîtes de Thouy leisure facilities: there's an outdoor pool for outdoor dips, and tennis and pétanque courts for competitive times afterwards. Free wifi access is also available.
Shops, restaurants and other essentials in Lacrouzette, three kilometres away – the Tarn is jammed full of rustic communes offering great food and drink. Don't forget to pack a picnic: local treats include tasty charcuterie and wines from the Gaillac area.

Local attractions
The Tarn region is fab for those who love love outdoors activities, and the surrounding area has walking paths for all abilities and fitness levels, around rivers, rock formations, old workshops and disused railway tracks. .
You can take a canoe trip on the Agout from Burlats, a 20-minute drive from the site. If ziplining in a forest is more your sort of thing, Lac'Cro Parc adventure park has it covered. Castre a 35-minute drive away is also well worth a visit, with colourful houses lining the Agout, as well as the Goya Museum and its Spanish paintings, and the Bishop's Palace, home to one of France's listed Jardins remarquables.
An hour in the car takes you to the Toulouse Lautrec Museum in Albi, dedicated to the famous painter and in a spectacular castle that was once the Bishop's Palace. After that, there's a UNESCO-listed cathedral to potter around, a historic area of 63 hectares to explore, and a bridge built in 1034: this is your spot for picworthy snaps.
Fancy something a little different? The 3 Valleys Zoo (30 minutes) and baboons, camels and giraffes is nearby.
