  • Peaceful woodland pitches at a hillside estate with Pyrenees views
  • Foix Castle half an hour's drive; an hour to Toulouse
  • Outdoor swimming pool, play area and barbecue grills on site
What a lovely spot for a rural break in the Ariège countryside – Villa Mayari is a small-scale site that’s part of a seven-acre countryside estate on a hillside with views towards the Pyrenees. When you come along here, you’ll be staying at an eco-friendly place, home to a flock of chickens and a vegetable garden, and which also runs on renewable energy and water-recovery systems. It’s a peaceful place indeed, but also one that’s easy to access – it’s just off the main road from the village of Escosse, about a mile away. The pitches here are spacious and quiet, thanks to their setting in the forest, with mature trees providing plenty of privacy and shade. Setting up camp in the woods also means you’ll be in prime position to spot some of the wildlife that lives here, and to listen to the soothing sounds of the birds singing in the trees throughout the day. This is a laidback kind of place, rather than one with heaps of entertainments on site, but guests have access to a lovely open-air pool and there’s a play area for the kids. The snack bar is open in July and August (from 8am to 12.30pm and 4pm to 8.30pm) for hot and cold drinks, ice creams and homemade pâtés. You’ll also be able to cook your alfresco meals on the site’s barbecue grills.

What customers say

Peaceful, nature-rich spot with welcoming hosts. Beautiful woodland, big pitches & clean facilities praised. Peak times can be busy, not as quiet as hoped. Minor points on external path lighting at night.

Liked The owners are welcoming and friendly. I had a great conversation with Ann the owner.
The forest location was very peaceful and what I was looking for.
At time of visit there was no food served on site but a 10 min trip takes you to local restaurants which were recommended by the owner.

Disliked Its a steal hill to get up and down for a loaded motorbike but managable

Anne e Juan Carlos
