What customers say

This campsite is great, with nice pitches and helpful staff. Clean facilities and a good pool. Close to a pretty village and walks. Some noted outdated facilities and occasional washroom cleanliness issues, with some pitches less ideal for tents. Good stopover spot.

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked Stayed 3 nights at Camping de la Forêt. The location is excellent—peaceful and just a short walk from Jumièges village. Great base for exploring the area.

Disliked Trop de bruit vers la fin de la journée. As summer winds down, the campsite showed signs of wear and could benefit from some maintenance. Nonetheless, its peaceful natural setting and convenient location near Jumièges made for a pleasant and relaxing stay.

Local attractions

Local town Jumièges is most famed for its abbey, hailed by Mr Victor Hugo as 'the most beautiful ruins in France' (nothing miserable about his trip there, then). An abbey of some sort has stood here since the seventh century, in a pretty parkland setting above the Seine; in a later incarnation, the abbey was consecrated in the presence of William the Conqueror. Heading towards the Normandy coast (you really should), about an hour and a half will take you to Cabourg, on the Côte Fleurie and the coast of the English Channel. This swish town has been a popular Normandy seaside resort since the middle of the 19th century (and also has a writerly connection, as the oft-incomprehensible Marcel Proust was a fan of the sands here). Cabourg is famed these days for its art galleries and racecourse, casino and annual Romantic Film Festival: do go see. The handsome harbour town of Honfleur, with port painted by Monet, Courbet and others, is just over an hour away: do go see that aussi.
