Camping de la Touche is an former farm complex in the south region of the Loire Valley, a small, friendly site over four hectares with a small river and many mature trees. Its peaceful setting on a well-preserved ancient farm is well placed for birdwatching, fishing or just basking in the sun. The farm is well placed too for sightseeing and as a stopoff on your journey south to recharge your batteries. The team can arrange your pet passport stamp if required. Amenities include a prep room with washing machine and dryer, a chest freezer and washing-up facilities. There's also a mini library and a barbecue area. Toilets facilities are separate for ladies and gents and the hot showers are free. The owners of this site are British, but a little French is spoken at the site.

  • The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro) and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.
  • The outdoor swimming pool is open between 01/06 et 31/08 (subject to weather conditions).
  • Guests are advised to bring a good quality flashlight with them as parts of the park are unlit.

A chilled, neat rural spot with ample stands & great ablutions (hot showers too!). Owners get rave reviews for hospitality. Pool, bar, food enjoyed. Perfect stopover or longer break. Occasional WiFi/loo woes noted, but strongly recommended for a relaxing time.

Liked The peace and quiet of the place. Access to the pool. Fish and chips with a drink a surprise bonus on our stopover heading South.

Liked Wonderful, the location was well laid out, supremely well maintained, very clean and tidy. We ate from the bar kitchen both nights, the food was perfect. The owners were available throughout our stay and running the bar and kitchen all evening.
A real future home from home.

Liked We stayed on the courtyard gravel as it was pouring with rain when we arrived. Lovely setting, easy check in, nice and clean toilet/shower facility. Well thought out design in the showers, with the curtain and folding seat available. We only stayed for one night but would recommend and use again.

Liked Friendly reception and helpful, pitch was clean and hook up for electric and water directly on pitch. Great for our two dogs to be able to run around and get some much needed exercise after a long journey.

Liked propreté des sanitaires , l’accueil même tardif ( sommes arrivés après 20h), le site par lui même son calme son emplacement en pleine campagne .
emplacement spacieux

Disliked manque peut être d'un banc dans chaque local des sanitaires , le sèche linge présent .... mais pas branché ( prise anglaise non compatible avec prise européenne....)
Direction devrait apprendre le français courant et prendre contact avec ses "clients " en court de séjour (sommes restés 6 jours sans jamais voir quelqu'un

Local attractions

Ask the Camping de la Touche owners for details of local rambles, hikes and bike rides in the peaceful countryside surrounding the site, or further afield at Loire Valley vineyards or châteaux (spoiler alert: there are quite a few of each). A top pick for a Loire Valley château is Château de Chenonceau, 45 minutes' drive from the site, one of France's designated 'remarkable gardens' and one of the few Loire castles you can pootle around without a guide. Also take a look at Château d'Amboise, favoured residence of the French royals, and Château de Villandry, famed for its stunning gardens; both are 50 minutes' drive from the farm. Further afield, Château de Chambord, one of the biggest Loire Valley castles with 440 rooms, is an hour and a half away. Kids along on hol with you will surely like a day out at the theme park Futuroscope (50 minutes), where there are driving tracks, shows, rides and loads more to keep all ages gleefully entertained.
