If you’re a miniature golf champ, a pedalling pro or an avid angler… then a stay at Camping Onlycamp des Halles will see you very well sorted. And if you’re a non-native who's yet to learn the lingo? Then fear not, for the friendly team speak English and are more than happy to share tips on topping spots for day trips away, like around the cities of Nevers and Moulins and to the Bibracte archaeological site in the spectacular Morvan Regional Natural Park, all within an hour's drive. This splendid spot lies along the banks of the Loire, where it meets the Canal du Nivernais – the park is vélo-friendly, offering bike rental on site to make cycles by the water’s edge a cinch. A stay here will have you right next to the EuroVelo 6 cycle route, and should you be feeling energetic enough for a 40-kilometre pedal, you can whizz directly into Nevers along it. A watersports and leisure centre is nearby too, with a pool (150 metres from base; free for all campsite guests in July and August) as well as kayak and pedalo rental. Site facilities include a TV room, a games room furnished with kids’ games, and pétanque, badminton and volleyball courts. A small and well-stocked grocery store and bread service is at your disposal for acquiring food, or you can pedal in 10 minutes to the supermarket to pick up French foodie stuff for pitchside picnics.

Liked Staff were polite

Disliked Not a great experience, left after one night, refused refund but did offer a ‘free night’ on account. Turned up about 1530, no pre-allocated pitch and insufficient pitches left for motor homes driving around the site looking for a pitch due to cyclists having pitched on campervan pitches. Facilities were tired and in places broken.

En ce qui concerne nos sanitaires, ceux-ci sont en cours de rénovation, d'où la présence de nouvelles portes sur vos photos, que nous avons reçues durant la pleine saison et stockées en sécurité dans les sanitaires en vu de les changer pendant la période plus creuse.

If you’re feeling energised and up for a 40-kilometre pedal, then whizz over to Nevers’ city centre for the day – be sure to make your way to Faience manufacture museum to see artful displays of decorative china, and if you take the blue line tour, you can see other historic hotspots on your way round the city. If you’re more of a petrol-minded type, you can drive over to Nevers Magny-Cours motor racing circuit in half an hour; for historyheads, a little over an hour will have you at the Bibracte archaeological site to see the Gaulish fortified city at the centre of a fine protected forest.
