- Snack bar, grocery shop, heated pool and summer entertainment
A mighty warm welcome awaits at Camping Reine Mathilde in Etréham, Normandy, along with close proximity to the D-Day landing beaches and Bayeux, mighty fine facilities on site and a peaceful and friendly atmosphere.
Beaut beaches are four kilometres from base; on site, you could hang out in and around the heated pool open from mid-June to mid-September while the kids tackle the play area or have a splashingly fab time in the paddling pool. Tennis tables and a pétanque court are also available, along with July and August activities for kids and karaoke, theme nights and disco nights for the grownups.
You can stick around on site too if you're feeling peckish, as there's a snack bar serving steak-frites, quiches and pizza along with its free wifi. Pick up your own foodie bits at the Reine Mathilde grocery shop, or amble along to the bakery for fresh bread and pastries.

Local attractions
You'll likely be champing to go immediately beachwards from the site, but straight after that get straight along to the cobbled medieval streets, half-timbered houses, 11th-century cathedral and beaut botanic gardens of fab Bayeux on the Aure river, one of the most popular tourist towns in the area.
It is, mais oui, also home to the world-famed Bayeux Tapestry, the eye-wateringly fab 68 metres of 11th-century tapestry telling the tale of the 1066 Norman invasion of England. The tapestry is now – natch – a UNESCO World Heritage Site: go and see it in the aptly named Musée de la Tapisserie de Bayeux.
If you're in Normandy to explore the D-Day beaches and World War II heritage, have a look too at the British war cemetery in Bayeux, and at the war museum, with displays covering the 1945 time from D-Day to Normandy's full liberation.
