Weave a scenic and historic Normandy holiday with a stay at Camping Municipal des Bords de l'Aure, set an easy riverside walk away from the town centre of Bayeux and its world-famed tapestry telling the story of the Battle of Hastings and the Norman invasion of England. More recent history can be learnt about around the Normandy D-Day beaches, around 10 minutes' drive away from base. Otherwise opt to try the many outdoor activities in the region, like the 36-hole golf course at Omaha beach 25 minutes' drive away, or the horse riding and watersports centres within 10 kilometres. The Parc Festyland theme park is also only 25 minutes' drive away for a day on the rides. The site has bikes to hire to take to the town or the coast. Also around for guests are a playground, table tennis and a pétanque court. There may be no pool on site, but there's a splendid indoor pool at the Centre aquatique Auréo, which is just five minutes' walk away from the site and free for guests to use. Those activities are sure to give you a healthy appetite, so it's handy that the site has a bread and pastries service.

Guests rave about the clean, modern facilities, roomy pitches, and the friendly, helpful staff. Though it can get busy, the layout prevents overcrowding. Enjoy free access to the nearby pool and handy food vans on site. A top spot for exploring Bayeux and Normandy.

Disliked Wir hatten einen grasbewachsenen Stellplatz gebucht im voraus wohl gemerkt für 4 Nächte
Bekommen haben wir einen Betonplatz- auf Nachfrage reagierte die Dame bei der Rezeption sehr unfreundlich.
Die Straße ist nicht weit, wenn man Oropax nachts einmacht geht es!
Fazit: zu teuer

Liked Very helpful staff, lent us an extension cable as we couldn't reach the electricity. The campsite is spotless, the pitches are level with most having hedges between them for privacy. Lots of trees for shade. An easy walk into town (20mins). A real bonus for us was the free entry into the leisure centre next door, a really nice swimming pool.

Disliked If you are in a tent, you may hear the road noise. It's not much but it's not silent countryside at night.

Liked large, shaded pitches. Separate showers and toilets for women and men. Spotless. Short walk along the river into Bayeux. Close proximity to Caen for ferry, gates open at 6.00am to allow for early sailings. Friendly staff

Liked Es ist wirklich schöner Platz, sehr sauber und er liegt wirklich in zentraler Lage.
Die Mitarbeiter waren super freundlich.
Die Sanitäranlagen sind sehr sauber und es gibt Toilettenbrillen. Diese sind ja nicht unbedingt Standard auf den Campingplätzen hier.

Liked Very pleasant and helpful reception staff. Great facilities and well tended, spacious pitches. Perfectly situated for visits to Bayeux, the cathedral, the Tapestry museum, war graves and the landing beaches. Lots of history to enjoy and a pleasant short walk along the river to the city.

Liked Kemp je skvělý. Pokud si požádáte o kartičku na recepci, můžete blízký akvapark navštívit zcela zdarma na jak dlouho chcete. Pěkné a čisté sociální zázemí, výborná poloha - 600 m pěšky od centra Bayeux. Nedaleko je pekárna a fitnesscentrum, Carrefour. Na recepci vždy milí a ochotní.

Disliked Trošku nešťastná je komunikace hned za plotem kempu, ale dá se zvyknout a spát v klidu, v noci nikdo nejezdí. Také jsme byli pod stromem, takže jsme měli auto a stan znečištěný od místních holubů, ale je to příroda :-) Wifi ne vždy fungovala.

Liked We stayed for 6 nights and have no complaints.
It's a very clean site with friendly staff and everything (plus more) you would need for camping.
Food trucks most nights if you don't want to cook. Short walk into the beautiful town of Bayeux! We chose this site as we wanted to explore everything D-day and it was a good base for that.
Everyone was quiet when it went dark (around 21.30/22.00).
Highly recommend this site.

Local attractions

Take the peaceful stroll or quick bike ride from the site into the centre of Bayeux a kilometre away, home of course to the mammoth Bayeux Tapestry, the 68 metres of 11th-century tapestry depicting the Normandy invasion of England and the subsequent Battle of Hastings. Also in town are the 11th-century Bayeux Cathedral, a British war cemetery, the Memorial Museum of the Battle of Normandy and the MAHB art museum, with paintings, sculptures, drawings, photographs, porcelain and Bayeux lace from throughout the centuries. Another D-Day museum is at Arromanches-les-Bains (10 minutes' drive) and the Normandy landing beaches of Omaha (25 minutes), Juno (25 minutes) and Utah (45 minutes) are all within striking distance. The Caen Memorial, commemorating World War II and the Battle for Caen, is 25 minutes' drive away. Outdoor activities are easily sorted with local horse riding, a couple of kilometres from the site, or with watersports including paddleboarding, sailing and sea kayaking at the nearby Normandy beaches, 10 minutes' drive away. You could also spend a day at the Les etangs de planquery (25 minutes), or take the kids to the Parc Festyland (25 minutes), themed around the events of 1066 and all that.
