- Lush green site in the village of Sevel, surrounded by walking trails
- A short drive to Hjerl Hede Open Air Museum, caves, lakes and woods
- Huge floor-level trampoline, playground and lots of space to run about
Swimming, fishing, sightseeing and woodland walks are all on the agenda during stays at Sevel Camping, a quiet, leafy and greenly scenic family-friendly park in the village of Sevel in north-west Jutland. The area's many attractions include the famed Hjerl Hede Open Air Museum; a river filled with sea trout; a swimming, fishing and sailing lake; and a huge glacial valley home to birds and other wildlife.
At base, kids have a splendid playground to tire themselves out at – it's got swings, a wide tubular slide, grass to run around on and – the pièce de résistance – a huge floor-level 'bouncing cushion' (very much like a trampoline if you don't speak Playground). They've got their own separate pool to splash around in too; meanwhile, grownups can busy themselves by lounging around and sunbathing by the long outdoor pool next door.
Prepare your family feasts with ease in the spacious kitchen, then take your finished foodie products out to the covered terrace to eat alfresco. Indoors, you can feast at one of the long banquet-style dining tables in the kitchen area.
Other amenities include a modern and accessible bathroom block with a family bathroom, a baby changing facility and separate ladies' and gents' toilets and showers, as well as a big laundry room with a washing machine, a tumble dryer, a big stainless steel worktop and a handy sink for hand washing your togs.

Local attractions
Woodland walks can be had right from the site; follow the waymarked red path through small forests and glades and alongside the fields that surround the village.
Gjæven valley also comes highly recommended by the Sevel team, as a birdwatching and wildlife spotting haven. During the summer months the park organises guided walking tours around the area, as well as horse-drawn carriage tours of the moors and the lakes.
Two signposted regional cycle paths pass through Sevel, as does the 3,600-kilometre Marguerite route, which takes cyclists around a thousand of Denmark's hidden cultural and natural attractions. There's plenty more walking and cycling over at Stubbergård Lake, as well as a 13th-century Benedictine convent ruin to be explored, and fishing, sailing and canoeing to get stuck into at the lake's southern basin.
Another boon for anglers staying at Sevel Camping is that the sparklingly clean Karup river lies only seven kilometres from base and is famed for its stock of large sea trout. Rumour has it that anglers have caught specimens weighing more than a whopping 15 kilos and measuring more than a metre in Karup's pristine waters.
