Between Lake Eildon, the Goulburn river and the mountains of Victoria, there’s a lot that’s set to impress around BIG4 Breeze Holiday Parks – Eildon. The dog-friendly holiday park is positioned on the banks of the Goulburn river, with views of the mountains and a 10-minute drive from the shores of Lake Eildon.
That fabulous location means that scenery’s a given here, as is easy access to activities on the lake such as swimming, canoeing, water-skiing, sailing and fishing.
In fact, you won’t necessarily need to go off site to cast your line, as anglers can chuck the lure out from the riverside right here at the park. If that’s not your cup of tea, there’s a network of trails designed for keen hikers and mountain bikers within a short drive of the holiday park too.
This is a well-equipped stay indeed, with facilities to keep you busy during your downtime, like a pump track, a go-karting track and an outdoor swimming pool. Firepits are permitted too, and sourcing supplies is as easy as taking the five-minute drive to Eildon to hit the shops.

Local attractions
For hikers, there’s a short trail to Snob Creek Falls (15 minutes’ drive), a waterfall which is 100 metres high. There are plenty of more challenging hikes around Lake Eildon, but one of its most famed lookouts is Foggs Lookout (15 minutes), which has views over the dam wall, water and surrounding mountains (which you should be quite familiar with from back at base).
Take a little gander at the Historic Grandfather Redgum Tree (20 minutes), which is as tall as 20 metres and has a trunk as wide as two metres. It’s one of few remaining trees from a grand red gum forest.
On the other side of the lake, there’s lots to fill a day trip, from navigating the family-friendly maze at the High Country Gardens (an hour and 15 minutes) to taking off onto cross-country riding trails through rivers and outback on the Watsons Mountain Country Trail Rides (an hour and 20 minutes).
If you’re after a more urban day out, Alexandra (15 minutes) is a previous gold mining town and has a running 1909 steam locomotive at the Alexandra Timber Tramway and Museum (15 minutes).
