  • Basic facilities; a five-minute drive to Llansteffan beach and castle
  • Bar on site with occasional live music/food nights on weekends
Walks in west Wales and pet-friendly stays in a peaceful country setting… what a lovely location is Laugharne View Caravan Site, a strict no-smoking site. Bringing a dog along or not, this park on a working smallholding has spectacular views over the Taf estuary and Caldey Island, so it’s a first-rate place for a break soaking up the Carmarthenshire scenery. With paths to ply all around, it’s also a splendid spot for walks that should appeal to those on four legs or two – it’s possible to potter over to Llansteffan, a couple of miles away, directly from the park for visits to a wide sandy beach (make sure to check for seasonal restrictions if you're taking a dog) as well as a castle that dates back to the 12th century. From there, you might choose to extend your walk on the coast path. More interested in strolls that result in supper? A pub is within a five-minute walk, and the eateries of Carmarthen – the oldest town in Wales – are just over 20 minutes away by car. If you've got a bit more time in town, ride on the antique Gwili Steam Railway into the hinterlands of the country or stay in Carmarthen to browse the boutiques. If you’re firmly sticking to country pursuits, stay on site to peer at the chickens on the farm, take the dog for a run around the spacious grounds. You might also like to pick up a couple of drinks from the site's Hayday bar to complete the picture… The basic amenities at Laugharne View Caravan Site include a toilet block and a basic shower block. Please note that there is a non-smoking (and no vaping in family areas) policy in place at this site and that some parts of the site are adults-only.

What customers say

Lovely, well-kept campsite with awesome estuary views. Guests rave about the friendly owners, clean loos, and big pitches. The on-site pub, often with live music, is a hit. Waste disposal's a bit tricky for some, but it's mostly peaceful and has all you need. Nearby pubs and walks are a bonus. Great for couples and families!

Electric grass campervan or tent pitch

Liked This campsite is an absolutely amazing location - although up a steep hill if you choose to cycle there like I did! The owner was amazing and me feel very welcome. The lovely surprise bonus was the on-site bar. It was a great way to finish a long days cycling with a cold beer and some tasty loaded nachos. The sunset view was fantastic. I felt rested and ready for the next day of my trip. I would definitely recommend this campsite.

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch (adults only)

Liked Lovely location, well priced, toilet and shower block small but sufficient

Disliked Recycling bins too small and nowhere to put general rubbish was unusual to say the least

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thanks for the review - yes unusual but probably the way it all needs to go. We have separate bins for plastic/cartons/metal/glass/batteries/dog waste/food... in the past when you have general waste then everyone leaves their black bags (full of waste that can be recycled) plus all their broken chairs plus general items like crockery from those deciding to spring clean and sort out their vans. Our strict recycling rules have filtered out all these guests.

Viewside electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch (adults only)

Liked Lovely few days at Laugharne View. Great location with wonderful views over the estuary. Site has its own bar serving food and live music on weekends which was a bonus. 30 minutes walk to Llansteffan but also local bus runs until about 6pm. Sian and Matt very welcoming, facilities clean, level pitch. Would recommend.

Disliked Nothing really but note that although you can leave your recycling on site you need to take your general waste away.

Liked Beautiful views & a friendly welcome

Disliked Although toilets were clean the distance from the camping field was much too far

From the manager: Thanks for the review Jayne - yes it is over 150m which is why we state the distance on our listing on pitchup and again on your booking confirmation. We suggest prospective guests read the information carefully before booking to avoid disappointment.

Local attractions

While Laugharne’s visible from the park, it’s a 25-minute drive away around the estuary to this pretty village famed for its castle and poet Dylan Thomas’ writing shed. For more of the area's history, National Trust attractions further away – like the Roman-era Dolaucothi Gold Mines (an hour’s drive) and the handsome house and park at Dinefwr (50 minutes) – should also feature on your to-do list. Also inland are many adventures, including the mountain biking trails of Brechfa Forest (55 minutes); swing back to the seaside and cycle more sedately along the Millennium Coastal Path if thrill-seeking on two wheels sounds a little bit too much for your tastes. Of course, you’re also never far from the coast in this part of Wales… Pembrey Country Park’s miles and miles of sandy beach are a 45-minute drive away, and the shorelines of the Gower Peninsula and Pembrokeshire are also less than an hour away.
