  • Small, quiet and family-friendly North Wales farm site near Wrexham
  • A 25-minute drive to Chester Zoo; an hour to Eryri National Park
  • Spacious dog-friendly pitches; shops, pubs and cafés 20 minutes’ walk
Fancy a foray to a peaceful site near Wrexham in North Wales? The pitches at Coxwood Farm are set on an acre of secluded farmland, surrounded by mature oak trees and securely fenced in away from the road. Quiet and rural this spot may well be, with spacious pitches and picnic benches tucked away under those sprawling trees, but it also puts guests in pole position for exploring Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park and the bright lights of Chester. Your dogs are welcome to join you here, but please bear in mind that this is a working farm so they must remain on leads at all times when around the pitches – for more of a chance to hare about there are plenty of footpaths directly accessed from the site, and the lane outside is pretty peaceful and safe for a quick doggy stroll. You can dig out local amenities – pubs, cafés and takeaways – in the villages of Marford and Gresford, both around 20 minutes’ walk. Going down the self-catering route? There’s an essentials shop for groceries in Marford, and supermarkets for bigger stocking-up expeditions in Wrexham or at Broughton Shopping Park (both 15 minutes’ drive). On the practical front, there’s running water and a single toilet and shower block on the pitches, with the grey waste facility tucked away behind that. Hardstand parking is also available for cars away from the pitches.

What customers say

Nice, quiet spot on a farm with good pitches. Lovely views, farm animals to see. Clean, basic loos and showers. Can get busy. Some found it a bit pricey and a little noise, but most loved the peace and want to come back.

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Hidden Gem of a small site in the heart of a working farm in the country side, plenty of room on each pitch which is hardstanding/grass with
communal taps and single pitch electric points.
Only 5 pitches and we touched lucky we had the whole place too ourselves for the weekend felt very isolated which we loved but wouldnt be to everyone's taste.
You pitch up then move your car to behind the toilet area which is fine as its in eye view and totally understandable the pitches are fab and dont need destroying by car parking.
If your wanting a holiday camp then this isnt the place for you but if you want peace quiet a lovely view and even looked after pitches give this place is worth a try.
Toilet/shower facilities is one toilet and a shower very basic, we chose not to use but they was tidy and clean with hot water.
We felt very safe and totally relaxed for the whole of our stay if your unsure whether to book do it you wont be disappointed.
Go and take a look at the protected, rescue owls by the bin area they were stunning too look at and we did every time we took the dog for a walk and to go the bin area but remember to be quiet as not too spook them.
Lovely view of the cows in the barn and in the fields which i loved as there ny favourite animal.
We didnt go into the local village but there is dog friendly paths and pubs when we had a google.
We cant wait to return it was exactly what we expected and better than we wanted x

Disliked These are by no means complaints but just personal preferences...
It would have been nice for someone to say hello on arrival I did ring as stated but I think due to signal we got cut off and never seen or heard from anyone again for the whole of our stay I understand prob busy but a text takes 2 mins but then i never rang back so i suppose it takes 2, regardless there was great clear pitch instructions for us if we had a emergency or needed to get in touch with someone so wasnt too much of a issue.
Really could do with a bin closer than on the farm area, but understand this is probably due to recycling and possible wild life issues saying this the whole camping area is spotlessly clean.
Elson point area could do with a little work I stung myself on the nettles and struggled to lift the metal lid as its not hinged it just bent and i scratched my hand but whats camping without a war wound!

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Secluded peaceful stop on a sunny Sunday. 5 pitches in total with EHU and water taps but we were the only ones parked up for the night which was lovely. Small working conservation farm (pigs, cows and owls)with 3 holiday let's set away from the pitches, with nothing but birdsong to be heard. 20 minute walk through the bridleway will bring you to a lovely pub on the side of a small river, also a co-op 20 minutes walk up the road. One hut with toilet and shower enclosed which was clean. Plenty of shade options as surrounded by trees and a meadow. Rustic

Disliked Feels a bit like the pitches have been left and the holiday let's are the focus. Phone signal is pretty rubbish (o2) which isn't a complaint just to make others aware but TV signal was perfect

Liked Peaceful. Okay for an overnight with pub and coop 20 min walk away.

Disliked £36 a night for a tight pitch and a shared porta cabin toilet/shower.

Liked The view of the cliffs and Robin Hoods Bay.
Lovely walk into the bay but you need to be fit as it’s a steep walk down & back.

Disliked Price was quite high for a field pitch.

Liked Lovely pitches with stunning views. Nice clean toilet/shower. 20 minute walk to local village with pubs and a coop. No one answered the phone numbers given so we pitched up and later found someone but there was no one else camping so luckily it didn’t matter.

Disliked Would imagine when it is full it would be difficult to use the toilet/shower as there is only one.

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Peaceful location, easy to walk through the fields into Rossett where there are lots of options for eating and a fabulous play area for my niece next to a community cafe.

The pitches were nice and large and everything worked well.

Although the shower worked great, if there were more people staying the 1 container which includes 1 toilet and 1 shower could cause a queue. But at the time we stayed we didn't have too many issues.

Would definitely stay again.
