Seeking a sojourn within easy reach of the smashingly spectacular Eryri/Snowdonia National Park? Close to several splendid beaches and within easy reach by car or bike from several towns for foodie spots and cosy pubs? Treborth Hall Farm Caravan Site should, then, tick off a fair few of your Welsh holiday boxes. This peaceful walled park is a 20-minute walk from the Anglesey Isle town of Menai Bridge, home to several traditional pubs and other eateries for off-site sips and scoffs. You can be in Bangor on your bike in 15 minutes too, or hop in the car and be there in less than 10; highly beau Beaumaris is bikeable too – reach it in a little over half an hour on two wheels, or be there in half the time on four. When it comes to stuff for kids to do, they’ve got reams of room to roam freely around, plus a play area too should they require fun structures to clamber on; for a spot of gentle grownup activity, there's a public footpath just outside that forms a loop connecting to the Wales Coast Path, which in turn provides access to Treborth Botanic Garden. For food on site you’re more than welcome to get a barbecue going – several supermarkets are within easy reach around the nearby towns for all your sizzling supplies, and there are also lots of pubs, restaurants and takeaways too. Among the on-site amenities are toilets and two shower blocks with coin-operated showers with plenty of piping-hot water.

Liked: A relaxed peaceful atomsphere in a stunning location surrounded by fantastic places to explore. A lane alongside the site goes down through the woods, through the botanic gardens, down to the coast, or take the lane up to the main road for bus connection. Toilet and showers were immaculately clean and the site is lovingly kept with beautiful gardening. Ticked every box for me so i booked to stay longer.

Liked: Beautiful, sunny camping (and caravan) site, well maintained, friendly kind people running it, natural surroundings with mature trees round field and a nice dawn and dusk chorus from the trees. Hot showers on a timer without having to rush. USB ports in shower block, and free Wifi near store. Entry code quietly opens a gate onto the site, which makes it private, and I felt safe. Near to Menai Bridge, Ysbyty Gwynedd (just a 15 min walk if visiting) and Treborth Garden Centre where there is a nice cafe. Very good price. Set back from the main road. A pleasingly peaceful place I shall like to return to.

Disliked: No Wifi in the field I was in - but could not have expected it to reach! (and I just knew to walk to the small shop / office to get the full signal)

Liked: Very nice and clean campsite! I could choose my pitch myself in the huge meadow, soft grass, even ground. Showers and bathroom very clean, with toilet paper, tissues and soap provided. Even a hairdryer! Also staff was very welcoming and friendly!

Disliked: Reception and food stand close quite early, so I wasn't able to buy a hot drink or borrow a firepit.

Local attractions

With the edge of the spectacular Eryri/Snowdonia National Park a short drive away, there’s lots of outdoorsy stuff around, including hikes and cycles among the mountains, explores of the beaches that fringe the smashing Anglesey isle, wildlife watching, or investigating centuries' worth of Welsh history at nearby castles, museums and mines. For water-based frolics there’s the Plas Menai National Outdoor Centre for windsurfing, powerboating, sea kayaking and dinghy sailing, less than 10 minutes’ drive away, or instead head to the spectacular sands of Newborough beach for pleasant sandside days; from the main car park are lots of splendid walks through woodlands and over dunes, where you’re oft likely to spot wild horses and cows. For a lofty adventure by rail, you can head for a jaunt on the Snowdon Mountain Railway, which takes passengers along a highly scenic five-mile trip from Llanberis to the summit of Snowdon. Also in the locale are several beaut medieval castles at Caernarfon, Beaumaris and Conwy, as well as National Trust properties of Plas Newydd House and Gardens, Penrhyn Castle and Bodnant Garden. Other possible day trips include Zip World Penrhyn Quarry (15 minutes) and Adventure Parc Snowdonia (35 minutes).
