  • Secluded and peaceful yurt site just inside the Welsh border
  • Two miles' walk from the local village with shop, butcher and pubs
  • A few minutes' drive from the Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway
Sweetly secluded, in a stargazing haven, with loads of room to roam and a setting close to the Welsh/English border... Strawberry Skys Yurts is a site to bed down at. The yurts are on a 10-acre smallholding run by site owners Anya and Eric, in their own spacious field among willow and cherry trees. They've been set up for scenic and peaceful stays in the mid-Wales countryside, to use as a lazy location for a weekend or longer break, or as a base for getting out and about around the country from local town Welshpool. Snowdonia National Park is within 45 minutes' drive, the Severn Way and Offa's Dyke Path are within easy driving distance, and spectacular Welsh beaches such as Barmouth are reachable in about an hour. All yurts come with their own firepit, barbecue and woodburner. Llanfair Caereinion village is two miles' walk across the fields (bring wellies) and has a shop, butcher and bakery supplies for your evening barbecues. The three pubs in the village all serves food and the bakery serves breakfast.

Local attractions

Take your pick of stuff to see and do around Strawberry Skys and in Powys, or across the border in England: Shrewsbury and the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty are both within 50 minutes' drive. Suggestions from Anya and Eric include the spectacular sight of the Pystyll Rhaeadr waterfall, about 50 minutes' drive away and one of the seven natural wonders of Wales. Or have a day at Lake Vyrnwy (40 minutes), the freshwater reservoir surrounded by a nature reserve, or at a couple of Welsh castles such as Powis (20 minutes) or Chirk (45 minutes). A few minutes' drive or about half an hour's bike ride away is the Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway, also much recommended for its scenic steam ride through the Powys coutryside from Welshpool to its closest stop to Strawberry Skys at Llanfair Caereinion.
