  • Family-orientated farm site in the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons)
  • A 35-minute drive to Pen y Fan; 10 minutes to Pwll y Wrach waterfalls
  • Peaceful atmosphere and basic amenities near the village of Felindre
Newcourt Farm Campsite is a back-to-basics site in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park. In a designated dark skies area, it's a great base for stargazing and just three miles away from the scenic river Wye, a lovely spot for exploring by canoe or kayak and taking a stroll along the banks. Hike the national park's highest mountain, Pen Y Fan, which is within 35 minutes' drive of the site or head to the Pwll y Wrach nature reserve (10 minutes' drive away) or Waterfall Country (an hour's drive) for waterfalls. The farm has clean showers, toilets and a washing-up area. Supervised school trips and groups such as Duke of Edinburgh Award seekers are welcome, but no late-night revellers please. The site is dog-friendly.

Liked Lots of space to choose from, shower and toilet block clean.
Gorgeous views of the area.
Host/owner very helpful, he let me borrow a block to level my van which was very kind.

Disliked Not very flat, hard to find somewhere to park the van.
Lots of children and also teenagers who n what seemed like a school trip, all very pleasant but was not an overly quiet camp.

Liked We had a lovely stay. Easy to find. Nice welcome when we arrived. Felt a safe site for young children. Quiet at night. Long views of the mountains. Will return.

Disliked One shower was out of use which meant a longer wait for a shower. Hopefully this will be fixed when we return.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Lots of space to feel like you are not surrounded by others. The nice man on reception made sure the larger groups stayed quiet after 10 which was
much appreciated. Facilities were clean and well lit and signposted. Lovely views accross the countryside from the campsite. Great value for money

Disliked Could be more showers as there became quite a queue at one point.

Liked Everything open spaces views staff was very friendly

Disliked On my 2 nd night at about 1900 a group of about 5 teenagers turned up considering the whole site was empty they pitched 2 tents right beside my camper van then the rap music came on & the football came out, they played football right beside my van and the ball was kicked right at my awning lifting it right off the ground I thought it was damaged but luckily it wasn’t, I was having a lovely quiet time all weekend until they turned up they had 3 fields to choose from but had to come into mine I was right in the corner so they could of gone to the other end of the front but no they pitched both their tents right beside my van, I shouted at them and they ran off and came back I was so angry they ruined my weekend of peace & quiet I was loving the views there I packed up and went home never finished my weekend trip

Local attractions

Your boots will be made for walking: this corner of the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park has footpaths and trails all around to warm you up before tackling the hill walks and mountains, and all in a spectacular part of Wales made up of valleys, waterfalls, caves and open countryside. There are a couple of walks direct from Newcourt and two long-distance trails cross through the farm: the Offa’s Dyke Path on the eastern border of the national park and the Taff Trail running south from Brecon. The Brecon Beacons Park Society has a full programme of guided walks in the park from moderate to strenuous, and there are lots of routes and maps available from the Brecon Beacons National Park Authority (or just ask Newcourt Farm owner David to point you in the right direction). The national park’s also where you can get your fill of climbing, birdwatching, caving, canoeing, sailing and other outdoor options; a visitor centre six miles from Brecon has all the info you might need as well as courses and events like pottery workshops and navigation training. Also around are several Sustrans routes for cyclists as well cycle hire and cycle tour guide companies; mountain bikers have five mountain bike centres and 14 trails from yellow (level one) to ‘killer black’ (bring plasters). Wheels on tour can cycle the Lôn Las Cymru, the route from Cardiff to Holyhead via Brecon (use route 42). After all that, you hereby have permission to curl up with a book: buy your tomes at the town of books, Hay-on-Wye, about half an hour from Brecon.
