- Well-equipped shepherd’s hut with views of the Pembrokeshire coast
- Cardigan, Poppit Sands and Pembrokeshire Coast Path 10 minutes’ drive
- Decking surround with hot tub and firepit; on-site outdoor pool
Fancy exploring western Wales from the comfort of a quaint but well-equipped shepherd’s hut? Then Trenewydd Farm, a 10-minute drive from the village of Moylgrove, in Pembrokeshire, might just be the place for you.
Sleeping two, the dog-friendly Blackberry hut sits on a hilltop with views over Cardigan Bay on one side and Ceibwr Bay on the other. In addition to a comfortable bed, it comes with a flat-screen smart TV, a log-burning stove and an ensuite shower and toilet. The decked area outside has a private hot tub and a firepit for cooking – or for keeping toasty as you watch the sun go down.
Part of a small holiday let complex, Blackberry sits apart from the other accommodations and has its own parking space. What’s more, guests can take advantage of all the on-site facilities, which include a seasonal heated outdoor pool and a footgolf course.
Popular for kayaking, windsurfing and paragliding, Poppit Sands Beach (10 minutes’ drive) is also a hot spot for wildlife enthusiasts, who might be able to catch glimpses of dolphins and seals swimming in the bay. The long-distance Pembrokeshire Coast Path starts just to the west of this sandy stretch, and you can follow it all the way to Ceibwr Bay and beyond.
If you prefer mountain views to the sea, you can head to the Preseli Hills (35 minutes). Keen cyclists might be happy to learn that Trenewydd Farm sits on Route 82 of the National Cycle Network, and there are also 14 kilometres of bike paths and mountain-biking trails at Llys-y-fran Reservoir (35 minutes).

Local attractions
Stretching along the estuary of the Teifi river, Cardigan (10 minutes’ drive) is worth a visit for its 12th-century castle, lively quayside area and Market Hall, where stalls sell local produce and crafts. On the outskirts of town, Teifi Marshes Nature Reserve is home to otters, herons and seasonal water buffalo.
Curious about the lifestyle of prehistoric people? You can learn all about it at Castell Henllys Iron Age Village (10 minutes). Here, occupying a number of reconstructed thatched roundhouses, ‘villagers’ are on hand to illustrate the skills and crafts they would have needed to survive in ancient times.
Once upon a time, when they were first erected, the monumental stones at Pentre Ifan Burial Chamber (15 minutes) would have been the supporting structure of an earthen mound. Today, they sit fully exposed in a gently undulating field grazed by sheep. It’s an unassuming location for a pretty imposing sight.

Hi Jade,
Thanks so much for your reviews, we're pleased you enjoyed your stay!
We had a look at the WiFi settings and the issue was that someone had connected the TV to wrong network, which is why you experienced problems with it. We do wish you had said there was a problem and we would have fixed it for you immediately; you should have been able to watch Netflix films. Next time!
Ginnie
