  • Peaceful site overlooking Cardigan Bay and next to the coast path
  • Five minutes' drive from amenities and boat trips in Cardigan
  • A couple of minutes' walk from a boat club and sandy beach
At the mouth of the Teifi river, a couple of minutes’ trot from a dune-backed sandy beach and with the Ceredigion Coast Path passing just by its borders – what a splendid seaside patch has peaceful Patch Caravan Park, five minutes’ drive from Cardigan town centre. This is a super spot if you’re in search of West Wales wildlife: there are cracking Cardigan Bay views from the park, and it’s possible that if you sit quietly with binoculars for long enough you’ll spot dolphins, porpoises, seals and all sorts of marine birds. If you’ve not managed to catch glimpses from land, or fancy a closer look, wildlife-viewing boat trips set sail from the harbour in Cardigan. Cardigan’s also your closest hub for facilities such as restaurants, pubs and supermarkets; it’s also got an indoor market that’s open most days for fresh food foraging. Closer to home are a boat club (next door to the site; come for sailing lessons or go straight to drinks in the bar) and an 18-hole golf course with spectacular sea views. Binoculars, beach kit, walking boots, outdoorsy outfits, golf clubs… you may well be stacking the car full of stuff for your stay here, so it’s pleasing to hear that plenty of essentials have been provided: the kitchen is well equipped, beds will be made up for your arrival and there are towels and tea towels for guests to use.

Local attractions

You’re coming for the coast, right? And there are heaps of ways to make the most of it around here: set forth for a walk on the Ceredigion Coast Path (which handily happens to pass just by the site), board boat trips from Cardigan harbour (five minutes’ drive) or just pack a picnic and potter down to Patch beach. Stunning sea views form the (potentially distracting) backdrop at Cardigan Golf Club, five minutes away; for a bit more of an adrenaline hit, activity centres in Cardigan are full of exciting ideas including coasteering, sea kayaking and other adventuresome outings. It’s worth occasionally swapping coast days for castle trips: head to Cardigan Castle (five minutes’ drive) for walled garden wanderings, kids’ craft sessions and all sorts of shows and events, or take the 15-minute drive to the ruins of medieval Cilgerran Castle. The Iron Age site Castell Henllys is 20 minutes away if you’d like glimpses further back into days of yore. Budding mini knights should find plenty to fuel their imagination at all these historic sites; they’ll also likely enjoy outings to Cardigan Island Coastal Farm Park (five minutes’ drive) and Teifimania indoor play centre (five minutes’ drive, and an excellent destination for damp Welsh days).
