Located on Hoy, the second largest island in Orkney, the hostel is located in the scenic valley of Rackwick. From the hostel a path climbs steadily towards the dramatic sea cliffs of northwest Hoy and the dramatic “Old Man of Hoy” a 137m sea stack. Much of the surrounding area is owned by the RSPB, the reserve comprises 3,500ha of upland heath and cliffs where a large variety of birds and wildlife live and breed.
