Highland Heights Luxury Glamping: Kitchen and lounge area

General

  • Luxurious glamping pods in a scenic Highland setting
  • Two miles from Strathpeffer; Inverness a 25-minute drive
  • Ensuite accommodation with underfloor heating and spectacular views

Set at the foot of Ben Wyvis and with panoramas over the lovely Victorian village of Strathpeffer, this homely Highland site may well be just the thing for folks looking for a rural getaway involving hikes on the North Coast 500.

The site's elevated position means that the views here are pretty fantastic, while at night dark skies make it possible to spot shooting stars, get up to some astrophotography or, if you're lucky, catch a glimpse of the gorgeous Northern Lights.

Inside, these smart glamping pods are kept warm with underfloor heating. Each unit has access to a modern ensuite bathroom with a walk-in shower, plus a well-equipped kitchenette, extra-comfy beds and luxurious linen.

Outside, each pod has a stylish decking area where you can sit on garden furniture and admire the view. This area also has a firepit for keeping warm and is very close to two cow folds, meaning you're certain to have a good view of the shaggy Highland cattle that graze in neighbouring fields.

The village of Strathpeffer is two miles away and has excellent restaurant options. The closest major supermarket is in Dingwall, roughly 10 minutes away by road.

Beautiful views and really nice pods.

    Disliked:

Owners seemed new to it. Very paranoid about people staying at pods. Questioned my autistic son about whether our dog was staying in the pods and suggested to him that they were going to check on the cctv if he was lying! Also we complained that it was difficult to open and close the door to the pod. We came back from a walk and they were inside the pod trying to fix the door. Probably best to do that when guests are present.

From the manager...

As we discussed on site Dogs are not allowed at Highland Heights, I spoke to your son who was left on his own and asked if he could get you to call me regarding this, I was not rude . Unfortunately you were very unhappy with me once we discussed this so I am not surprised by your bad review. I am sorry you were so unhappy by our No Dogs policy which is clearly marked on all sites. We did repair the door at your request, unfortunately trades people can not always give a time or a time that suits guests.

The pod we stayed in and in fact the whole site/set up is to a very high standard with excellent attention to detail. Facilities included are great, gas bbq, gas fire pit, microwave, oven, hob, fridge etc etc !!
Although there are 4 pods relatively close to each other, the privacy is perfect with angle the pods are set at and the fences around each one but with lovely open views out the front of each pod with lovely large decking area.

In a separate building there is access to extra towels, use of games etc as well as availibitly to purchase burgers and other items for a bbq and ice cream from a freezer which I think is an excellent idea. And to top it off there is also a sauna for guests use, which is beautiful.
