General

  • Wildlife haven in the Findhorn valley in rural Morayshire
  • Whitewater rafting, canoeing, fishing, paintball and lots more on site
  • Outdoor camp kitchen with firepits and log stools

What an ace site this is... tucked into the Findhorn valley in rural Morayshire, with accommodation spots hidden all around and loads to do right on site, including whitewater rafting, tubing, canoeing and kayaking, salmon fishing, paintball, disc golf…

Turn up with your other half, the family or your friends to stay some days here and take in the countryside, scenery and activities: there are plenty of scenic strolls around the surrounding countryside woodlands and river paths to spot deer, owls and other native birds or red squirrels (the team recommends wanders in the early morning or the evenings for the best sightings).

Facilities include woodland compost toilets (the owners guarantee they're comfy and smell/fuss-free), and showers in a wood structure with instant gas heating for toasty woodland washing.

Guests can also use the outdoor camp kitchen, which has a communal firepit, a sink, a two-ring gas camp cooker, a huge table and several log stools sawn from a nearby fallen tree – now that's recycling… There's also a small shop on site selling camping essentials, drinks and chocolate (another essential).

Please note

Facilities/activities including outdoor activities such as white water rafting, canyoning, tubing, canoeing and kayaking, salmon fishing, paintball and disc golf are subject to extra charges payable on arrival.

Wonderful campsite. I spent 4 nights there in early October and virtually had the place to myself. Lovely woodland camping and very quiet. Just the owls to keep you company through the night! The brand new (2018) shower / toilet block is amazing - spotlessly clean and free hot showers. Forres is about 10 mins down the road for local facilities. All in all, highly recommended.

It was a bit of a drive into Inverness, which is where we spent our days. I also would have appreciated a flushing toilet closer to the cabins. I would have also liked wifi at the cabin.

Beautiful scenery and relaxing surroundings. I loved the friendly atmosphere and everything for our stay was provided from fire pits to toilet and shower blocks with hot water. Whilst we didn’t make use of the many adventure activities on offer, there are some interesting and beautiful walks close to the campsite. I would definitely recommend staying here.

Local attractions

You'll probably want to stay on site for a few days to try out all the activities right on site (you might rather fancy the frisbee golf), but once ready to explore the area, another plethora of things to see and do is within easy reach.

Take the walk from Ace to the nearby beauty spot of Randolph's Leap (you might rather fancy this too) and on to the Logie Steading Visitor Centre with its café, artisan shops, play park, heritage centre and the Logie House Gardens for starters…

Other options in the immediate area are visiting the pretty local town of Forres (did you know this is where Duncan''s castle was in the Scottish play...?) and some most excellent salmon and trout fishing on the River Findhorn.

The art and antiques of Brodie Castle are just outside Forres, or your crew could take a wildlife trip around Moray Firth to see dolphins, whales, porpoises, sharks, seals and flocks of seabirds. Nairn Beach, where a school of dolphins are often visible from the coastline, is about eight and a half miles from your ace base.

Must see

  • Speyside Heather Centre (23.8 kilometres)
  • The Glenlivet Distillery Visitor Centre (28.1 kilometres)
  • Culloden Visitor Centre (32.3 kilometres)
