  • Well-kept, quiet Wiltshire farm site 10 minutes’ drive from Malmesbury
  • Westonbirt, The National Arboretum and Highgrove 20 minutes’ drive
  • Café with views over the fields; play barn for an additional fee
If you’re looking for somewhere to take the kids for a few days of country life, you should be heading to Down on the Farm, on the edge of the Cotswolds and 10 minutes’ drive from Malmesbury in North Wiltshire. This peaceful pop-up site is set on a beef farm with lots of curious cows to meet and greet, and kids can access the huge play barn to play farm-themed games and ride mini tractors about the place (please note there is an extra charge to use this area). And for adults? Well, there’s a popular café with views over the farm fields, a modern facilities block with family shower rooms, and a camping field sheltered by mature trees. You can also set off on rural walks from the pitches, which are dog-friendly so Fido can join in the holiday fun too. There are lots of options for family days out, whether it’s swimming off the lakeside beach at the Cotswold Water Park (15 minutes’ drive) or exploring the standing stones at Avebury (35 minutes). And if you’d rather just stick around and chill on site, you can look forward to regular colourful sunsets and nights cosied up around the firepit.

What customers say

New, friendly farm campsite with ample pitches & stunning views. Owners are super welcoming & helpful; facilities are spotless & the cafe's a winner. Kids love the play barn & animals. A few guests felt more showers/washing-up spots needed during peak times, but this is being sorted. Great for families!

Electric optional hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked Friendly staff. Nice surroundings.

Disliked No hot water in showers. No place to dispose of toilet cassette waste. No place to dispose of grey water. Washing up sink out in the open exposed to elements.

From the manager: We are very sorry to hear that your visit wasn't to your liking and didn't score higher, others on the same day gave very positive reviews and stopped extra nights as a result of their stay.

We do not advertise having the ability to get rid of your toilet waste, and therefore shouldn't be something you were expecting to be able to do as this is not a facility we are yet able to offer.

We do not advertise having Wifi, however the cafe and lots of the campsite has very good coverage.

When you raised an issue about the shower, we looked and were able to get it working, providing a hot shower and others were able to as well, so not sure why you weren't able to.

The washing up area is something that is being developed.

As we say,we are sorry that you feel other areas didn't warrant any higher score, others on the same day gave glowing reports.

Very warm welcome, thank you Bethan…
