What customers say

Sparkling campsite, neat, level spots. Top-notch loos & showers. Owners are brilliant, so helpful. Nice extras like fridges & a dog run. Road noise can be a bit of a bother, but most folks absolutely loved it and would come back.

Field 2 electric grass pitch (XL)

Liked Brilliant compact campsite with excellent amenities! Toilets and showers are generously sized and large washing up area too. The owners pride themselves on their cleanliness and the site was kept spotless at all times. Location is good, just off the motorway network and easy access into Weston. Field 2 is next to the road and whilst there was regular noise throughout the day, not once was it overpowering or stopping us relaxing. Distant noise from the motorway but again, this was quickly forgotten about and please don't let this stop you from booking!

Field 2 electric grass pitch (XL)

Liked Booked an xl pitch and it was a great size. All facilities were spotless and cleaned thoroughly throughout the day. Showers were great - kept a constant temperature. The dog field is a good addition. Loved picking and eating apples fresh from the tree. Friendly and welcoming reception.

Disliked Some road noise, but this did reduce overnight, and didn't disturb our sleep.

Disliked We have been camping for over 9 years in many different places and have never been treated as we were at Myrtle Farm Holidays.

The owner told us before booking that she normally doesn’t accept groups, but would make an exception.
From the moment we arrived, she repeatedly said to us of being noisy , even at 7:30pm on a Saturday evening when we were talking, listening to music with our children. When we asked if there were any complaints from other guests, she admitted there were none.

Then, unbelievably, she told us that if we wanted to keep listening to music and talking, we should leave her site. Our booking was from Thursday to Monday, but on Saturday evening she told us to leave the following morning. This was completely unacceptable, unfair, and felt discriminatory.

When we left at 10am, she didn’t even say goodbye, and within minutes new guests were already using our pitch, as if our forced early departure had been planned.

This was by far the least welcoming camping experience of our lives. Think very carefully before booking here. We will never return, and we do not recommend this place to anyone.

From the manager: Thank you for your review.

I am so sorry read another review from your party, I did try to work with you to make your groups stay as enjoyable as possible whilst still considering my other visitors.

The Pitchup website and booking platform mentions several times that we do not accept bookings through them of more than 2 pitches, it is such a shame this was not noticed by your group as it was soon apparent that Myrtle Farm Holidays was not the type of site hoped for.

I did try to speak with everyone after the 4 bookings were made, making clear my site rules and offered a full refund rather than disappointment on arrival....I was assured there would be respect for the site rules and apology that the group booking rules were not understood at the time of booking; I respected this and honoured the booking.

It was soon very apparent that we had very different ideas about noise levels/firepit & bbq rules/ loud music etc. I had a complaint the first evening which I followed up discreetly and then several further requests from other customers through the first full day/night for me to speak to the group about noise levels.

After 2 nights a mutual agreement was made that a partial refund would be made and the group could find somewhere more suitable for themselves....checkout was 10am and everything was left clean & tidy, I then moved one of my existing customers that were on a non electric pitch to one of the already refunded & departed pitches.

Myrtle Farm Holidays, myself and my team are continually praised for our friendly & efficient customer service, and a well run peaceful site. I stand by my t&c's; and do not accept bookings through Pitchup of groups of more than 2 pitches, bbqs and firepits must be fully extinguished by 10pm, no loud music, quiet time between 10pm & 7am, and most of all respect for other visitors.

Wonderful campsite on the outskirts of Weston - well worth a visit.

Field 2 non-electric grass pitch

Liked Good communication with Diane at the campsite and a nice welcome with an explanation of where everything was. A beautifully maintained site with lovely trees. The pitch was as described - the other side of the hedge was a busy road - but I felt lucky to have found somewhere at short notice on a bank holiday weekend and it didn’t really bother me as I knew to expect it - managed to sleep well enough. The facilities were excellent and kept very clean.

Disliked Would have liked a slightly later check out time than 10 so the dew could have fully dried off the tent before packing up. If it had been 12 I might have managed a quick swim in the sea before packing up. Tide was out by the time I was packed and at the beach but that wasn’t the fault of the camp site🤣 Also as a solo traveller it’s a bit irksome to be charged the same as a couple but again this is pretty standard practice…

Local attractions

The Myrtle Farm Holidays setting at the foot of the Mendip Hills has it perfectly placed for outdoorsy days, with a vast pick of walks, cycle routes, fishing and birdwatching within easy distance. By car, Cheddar village and the famed and fab Cheddar Gorge are very close by, as is the teeny city of Wells with its cathedral and independent shops. The National Trust-managed Victorian Gothic house of Tyntesfield is ten miles away. Another cracking option is Glastonbury, with its independent shops and cafés, museums, Glastonbury Abbey and Glastonbury Tor. The golden sandy beaches, seaside shops and wide range of restaurants and bars at Weston-Super-Mare, Brean and Burnham-on-Sea are all within a short drive. You'll also be within easy driving distance of the cities of Bristol and Bath and their shopping, theatres, cinemas, museums, bars and restaurants. Travel a little further to get to Wiltshire, where must-sees include Stonehenge and Longleat.
