  • Family park close to Poole, Studland and Sandbanks
  • Indoor and outdoor pools, amusement arcade, play areas and kids' clubs
  • Bowling, crazy golf, ice cream parlour, restaurant and clubhouse
Sandford Holiday Park is an apt name for this park, which has acres of Britain’s best beaches within easy reach… From its peaceful Holton Heath woodland setting, it's just a short journey to the wide sands of Studland and Sandbanks, as well as lively resorts such as Bournemouth and Poole – all of which are within a half-hour drive. Boredom's not an option here, where the activities include a summer outdoor and indoor pool complex, a dedicated musical play pool for toddlers, courts for tennis and many other sports, bikes and pedal go-karts for hire, and nature trails crisscrossing the site. Still standing after all that energetic stuff? Then go swing’n’rolling at the bowling, or take the kids around the jungle-themed crazy golf and reward the winner with an extra scoop at the site’s ice cream parlour. The park also has three different kids’ clubs, banded by age to make sure top fun is had by all (even the harder-to-please teens should be mildly interested by the film-making and DJ workshops… plus the free wifi on site). Young’uns should also enjoy the indoor soft play zone and two outdoor play areas, with a pirate ship and a climbing wall as well as the usual playground paraphernalia. Recharge your batteries at the fish and chip shop or the Arena restaurant, which serves Costa coffee as well as pizzas and lots of other family-friendly meals. Then top it all off with a trip to the Limelite Club for family entertainment, cabaret and competitions from the sparkly Troupers: you should sleep well after that lot…

Meadows electric grass touring pitch

Liked What staff we could find were very helpful.

Disliked Quite honestly, we disliked everything.
When we arrived, we were checked in by security guards, because there was no staff on reception. We found our pitch easily but the closest toilets to us were a disgrace. Even our six-year-old son said he didn’t want to use them because they were so dirty and the flush didn’t work.
This was the case for the whole shower /WC block.
Things weren’t much better in the main building. The only staff we found were on the bar or waiting tables in the restaurant or running the prize booth in the amusement arcade.
We left the restaurant pretty quickly because we could hear screaming from the ladies loos. This turned out to be a child having a total meltdown because they needed the loo but could not go because they were so dirty. The poor child was screaming and it went on for so long, we began to feel quite uncomfortable. There were no cleaning staff to be seen anywhere.
The whole site is completely rundown and tired looking. We had a walk around and looked at the crazy golf for something to do, but everything was broken.
Bearing in mind that this was the beginning of the season, the children don’t break up from school for two weeks, I pity those who have booked for this summer as their main holiday. Not a great experience, would not recommend.
We left the next day before breakfast, because we didn’t fancy eating there.

Will never go back.

Paddock electric grass touring pitch

Liked Nothing to note here. It was awful.

Disliked Site full of the travelling community. Adults driving like idiots through the site, kids running around terrorising and intimidating everyone, stealing from the campsite shop and no respect for people's pitches.

Dogs not controlled. Off the leads and barking non stop.

One security check over the three days, hence why nothing was done about the noise, behaviour and the dogs.

Indoor pool shut.

Facilities disgusting and cold.

Lovely, well kept site. Staff very friendly, efficient and helpful. Toilet &…

Paddock electric grass touring pitch

Liked Lovely, well kept site. Staff very friendly, efficient and helpful. Toilet & shower facilities in the paddock area where we stayed were very modern and clean. Indoor & outdoor pools were good.

Disliked It would have been nice if the pool opened earlier in the morning, as we only stayed for one night and would have enjoyed a swim before we left. Also, the option to have a cheaper touring pitch without electric hook-up would've been good.

Meadows electric grass touring pitch

Liked Our pitch was close to the toilet/shower facilities which were clean and saw cleaners go in regularly.

Disliked Only issue I had was that the hot water in the shower took some time to come through . Food took a while to arrive in the restaurant and the Wi-Fi wasn't good there

Meadows electric grass touring pitch

Liked Restaurants food was good, but expensive.
Nice well laid out site.

Disliked Touring toilet blocks very dated, worn and stank.
Poor guy doing the cleaning was doing a great job but a mixture of dated facilities that really need replacing and people not understanding basic toileting skills, it really does need a refit.

The park had plenty of facilities…

Liked The park had plenty of facilities

Disliked The toilets/ showers were disgusting. People seemed to lack the basics skills, like flushing a toilet. Aiming for the the toilet would have been a bonus

Meadows electric grass touring pitch

Liked The facilities, the pitch was well maintained and easy to pitch up. The reception was good and security was good.
It a lively site. Lots of activities and my kids had plenty to do. It was kept lovely and clean and there were lots of staff around.
Good bars, ice cream area, shop is good.
We would visit again.

Disliked Very busy, lots of queuing to use the pool.
Very noisy in the social areas which is to be expected I suppose but depends what you like as it’s very lively.
The busy nature meant that the Quinn cause a lot of anger and the guests were not very friendly about it so I could see why they had so much security.

Local attractions

It’s a short hop in the car to begin discovering the area’s spectacular surrounds, from the wilds of the New Forest to the ancient cliffs, limestone arches and nature reserves of the Jurassic Coast (tick off another World Heritage Site on your 'must-see' list). Dorset is jammed with attractions to suit all interests. History buffs might fancy clambering around Northe Fort or scaling the ramparts at Corfe and Portland castles. The Adventure Wonderland family theme park has thrills for kids of all ages, plus a massive hedge maze to get lost in, and action men (and women) can go paintballing or drive a tank at the Bovington Tank Museum. There’s loads of fun for fauna fans, too: check out the chimps at Monkey World, swan about at Abbotsbury Swannery, visit Weymouth Sea Life Park, explore the largest saltwater lagoon in the country on the glass-bottomed Fleet Observer, or meet some farmyard friends at Farmer Palmer’s Farm Park. Drive a bit further and you can also make a day trip to Longleat Safari Park.
