Parley Court Camping: Spacious grounds

General

  • Family-owned site in the small village of Parley Green, Dorset
  • A 15-minute drive from Christchurch and Bournemouth town centres
  • Riverside location by the Stour; a mile from Adventure Wonderland

Parley Court Camping is a family-run site in Dorset that’s 15 minutes' drive from two stunning seaside towns. Whether you're after strolls around the priory and boating trips in Christchurch or fancy the sandy beaches, pier and bright lights of Bournemouth, staying at Parley Court Camping means you can get there in a matter of minutes. The site is also an easy quarter of an hour's drive from the western edge of the New Forest National Park.

Parley Court Camping makes a great base for anyone coming to this part of the world for the annual Bournemouth Air Festival; at other times of year it's a short distance from Bournemouth Airport and is a mile from an aviation museum where you can sit in the cockpit of vintage planes.

This relaxed site is small in scale and has a fairly back to basics approach to camping, but toilet and shower facilities are available. It's also possible to fish on site from the riverbank (contact Ringwood & District Anglers Association in advance for a licence).

Set on the edge of Parley Green, this site is about a mile and a half from Hurn, where there is a post office and access to gorgeous Sopley Common nature reserve. For everything else, head to either Christchurch or Bournemouth, where there are plenty of supermarkets, restaurants, independent shops and big brand stores.

Please note

Minimum spacing of 6 metres between pitches.

This is a quiet park: no music is allowed.

No cars/motorcycles at the site. All cars must be parked in the designated area.

No electric barbecues allowed.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

If making a fire, the fuel, logs and coal have to be purchased on site.

No bachelor/bachelorette parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

Twin axle vehicles are not permitted on site.

Guests are advised to bring a good quality flashlight with them as parts of the park are unlit.

At least one of the party members must be aged 21 or over.

The park does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Breed-specific legislation (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).

Swimming in the lake is not allowed.

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

Once units are pitched they will need to stay on site until the day of departure; towing vehicles will be required to park in the adjacent car park.

Flat pitch very close to the car park and golf centre (do breakfast, hot drinks and a bar). Enough toilets and showers. Wasn't crowded at all.

    Disliked:

Toilets could have been cleaner but they were fine. Quite close to the airport, there were no flights departing in the evening but the first one in the morning was before 8am.

The manager is exceptional. A very friendly and Wilco person. Due to the horrendous traffic on the M25 I rang and spoke to him explaining we would be some hours late, without a change in tone he cracked a joke, asked us our estimated time and wished us a safe travel, he was totally understanding, a true host that made us feel at ease and excited to begin our holiday. Not only was he polite over the phone but when we did turn up at 2200hrs with a very tired 3 year old he very kindly offered us a already pitched tent. A exceptionally kind gesture that will remain with me for a long time.

The campsite it’s self was very nicely maintained and very much fit for purpose. Their are a number of very useful water points dispersed logically across the site.

Make sure you bring food. The restaurant within the Gold Club closes really early. There is a schdule in the camping bit (where you wash your dishes) that says it serves food until 7:30pm on weekends and we wend there on a Saturday at 6:30pm and we were told that they don't serve food at that time of the night.
