  • Well-established Dorset park two miles from Blandford Forum
  • Kingston Lacy estate 15 minutes' drive; half an hour to the coast
  • Set within 14 acres of ancient parkland, with private walking trails
Seeking some proper peace and quiet for your Dorset break? Tuck yourselves away among 14 acres of ancient parkland at The Inside Park, a couple of miles outside Blandford Forum. The team here have been welcoming guests for more than 30 years, with many people becoming repeat visitors over that time. And what is it that keeps them coming back for more? Well, despite being so close to town (very handy when you want to pop out to the shops or find somewhere to eat out), this place has quite a magical secluded atmosphere. The pitches are about half a mile from the nearest road, and surrounded by a swathe of fine specimen trees that are home to lots of wildlife (deer, hawks and badgers are among the animals you might spot as you wander here). Getting out to explore your surroundings is easy here, as there are about six miles of private waymarked trails running through the farm’s land – excellent for walking the dogs or taking the kids out to spot some of the aforementioned wildlife. There are also woodland areas for the kids to play in, along with an outdoor play area and an indoor games room with table tennis, pool and other games. The owners of this site have clearly learned a thing or two about guests’ needs over the years they’ve been running the place, so now there’s a good list of facilities, mostly located within a characterful 18th-century stable and coach house – a launderette, food shop and modern accessible bathrooms among them. Spacious pitches on free-draining land round everything off nicely for a comfortable, chilled-out countryside break.

What customers say

This busy, large campsite has great facilities, especially the amazing kids' play area and forest walks. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Pitches are big, and it's generally clean. On-site shop and food van are a bonus. Some found it a bit noisy during busy periods, and a few mentioned showers being dated or a bit far to walk to.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Easy to find. Great communication. Relaxing site. Very sheltered from wind!
Great shop. Warm welcome and helpful staff in reception.
Games room looked good. We didn't use it but looked good.
Looked like a great play area outside for children and lots of walks to go on if you need those kinds of things. We did not.
The site itself (grounds, pitch size, views, feeling of safety, shop, games room ) We'd rate at a 4.5/5
Facilities ( toilets /showers/ Internet/ disposal/ ) 2/5

Disliked Toilet block was ok but just tired. I like it if there is some music or radio in there but that's just personal preference.

There was feaces by the electric hook up point. Assuming it was dog but possibly not.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Beautiful spacious park. Toilets and shower blocks were lovely and clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Shop on site too and close to other local amenities.
A great play area for children .
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and planning to visit next year again.

Disliked WiFi not great however we find this is not a park related issue but an area issue as Blandford in general has poor signal

Electric grass pitch

Liked We visited in mid-September, after the school holidays, so it against this period that this review is written.
Despite the mid-September winds and rain, my wife and I really enjoyed our stay here and will look forward to returning next year. The site location is convenient for visiting many of the tourist sites in Dorset and the generous pitch size and forest environment make it ideal for walking, either with or without a dog. Although we did not bring our grandchildren, it was apparent that the site caters for children in a big way.

The site location offers easy access to Dorset tourist activities.
Blandford Forum itself has great facilities for eating, drinking and general shopping and we found a warm welcome from everyone we met.
The site has good facilities [on-site shop, washing machine/driers] and the toilets and showers are always very clean. Blandford Forum is about 10 mins drive away for supermarkets and "big shop" items.

Disliked As raised in previous reviews, the walk to the toilet facilities can be a problem, especially if it is raining. Not really a dislike but more of an inconvenience [ no pun intended ].

Wi-Fi variable, dependent on pitch position, but this did not worry us as we wanted to "get away from it all"

Local attractions

If you're popping into Blandford Forum (five minutes’ drive) for a bit of shopping, stick around to visit the Blandford Fashion Museum or take a tour of the Hall & Woodhouse Brewery. There’s also a leisure centre here with a pool, and you can head a little way out of town to the Royal Signals Museum (10 minutes). From this handy spot within the Dorset National Landscape, there are plenty of lovely walks and bike rides – plus more adventurous bike activities at Okeford Hill Bike Park (10 minutes). The spectacular Kingston Lacy estate (15 minutes), English Oak Vineyard (20 minutes) and Sculpture By The Lakes (25 minutes) give different ways to enjoy the scenery. And of course Dorset’s fabulous coastline isn’t far off either – drive for half an hour or so and you’ll be at Bournemouth’s splendid sandy beach or at the ancient coves of the Jurassic Coast.
