  • Dog-friendly site in Dartmoor National Park with access to the moors
  • A short walk from Venford Reservoir; swimming in the river Dart nearby
  • Wild camping site with minimal facilities and overnight parking
Strap on your walking boots and get out onto the moors… West Stoke Farm is a dog-friendly site in the Dartmoor National Park with direct access to the moors and Combestone Tor 15 minutes’ drive away. Here, you’ll also be in a good spot for birdwatching or wild swimming in the river Dart, as the river and Venford Reservior are around 10 minutes’ walk away. Eyes on The Two Moors Way? Well, this long-distance trail (linking Dartmoor and Exmoor) is a short drive away. Of course, there are other walking and cycling trails nearby too (with cycling on the roads, as it’s not permitted on the moors). You may be on a mission to tackle the trails but you’ll also want to track down some of the tastiest places to eat out nearby too. Handily, this site is 10 minutes’ drive away from Holne village’s shop and tea room. There’s a pub this way too and another within five minutes’ drive of the site – plus plenty more in the surrounding villages too. This is a wild camping site with a quiet field and no facilities so guests are asked to bring their own facilities and whisk away their waste at the end of the stay. Conveniently, there’s overnight parking available here, great for anyone wishing to use the site as a base to quickly stop off at the moors, as overnight parking isn’t permitted in the moor’s public car parks.
