What customers say

This small, peaceful campsite offers great value in a beautiful rural spot. Guests love the friendly, helpful owners. Facilities are basic but clean, with eco-showers. Enjoy the quiet vibe, great views, and handy location. Some slopes and 6amp hook-up noted, but mostly a restful escape.

Farm View non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked Stopped for one night to head to the Saunton early in the morning. Great location just outside of Barnstaple.
Host was easily contactable.
This camping is on a working farm so no would say no frills but good value for money in the season and has everything you need.

Taw View electric grass touring pitch

Liked Lovely rural location, quiet and well placed for Barnstaple etc. Great dog walking field. Convenient garage store close by. Nice to see solar heating in shower.

Disliked Single shower/toilet room a bit rough, could do with some tiling maybe and brighter lighting. Field slopes but just about ok with wheel chocks. A working farm but still seems some areas could be tidied up a bit.

Taw View electric grass touring pitch

Liked Very peaceful and tranquil. Great value for money, even provided wooden blocks to level the van as it slopes slightly. Overall very restful and Very good value for money at £11 per night with a 6 amp electricity (all i needed to slow charge my batteries). Its a solar shower so may not always be mega hot, but had all the services i needed at great value. Small and cosy.

Disliked Nothing.

Local attractions

For coastal days, the nearest beach is Instow, on the Torridge Taw estuary, 20 minutes’ drive away. Alternatively, set off to the north Devon coast for days at Saunton Sands or Westward Ho! (both half an hour’s drive), or Woolacombe (45 minutes). Offshore trips to Lundy Island run from Bideford (25 minutes). How about a hike instead? Both Exmoor (25 minutes) and Dartmoor (40 minutes) national parks are good places to get out for a proper walk. Cyclists may instead choose to take to the Tarka Trail from Barnstaple (15 minutes’ drive, or get there on the train from Umberleigh, a couple of miles away) Less energetic days out nearby might include a wander around Exeter (50 minutes’ drive, or take a train), pottering through the farmers’ market and shops in South Molton (15 minutes), or visits to RHS Garden Rosemoor and Dartington Crystal (both 15 minutes).
