Little Oak Meadow: Sunrise at Little Oak Meadow

General

  • Secluded Devon glamping site five minutes' drive from Colyton
  • A 10-minute drive to Seaton, Beer and Branscombe beaches
  • Bell tents with eco bathroom, bed linen and gorgeous views

Little Oak Meadow is a secluded glamping site with gorgeous views of the surrounding East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the nearby town of Colyton (five minutes’ drive away and known as ‘Devon’s most rebellious town…’).

Set next to a woodland, the site has a bunch of wildlife around. Settle in here and you can also look out along the lovely Axe Valley and catch glimpses of the sea lying beyond the Jurassic Coast in the distance.

If you’d like to get down there for a closer look, it’s a 10-minute drive to Seaton (or a little longer to the likes of Charmouth, Lyme Regis and Sidmouth). And of course, the proximity of the coast means that walks on the South West Coast Path beckon, as well as local routes taking in woodland, river and rural views.

Bell tents at this Devon site are set up with a double bed (plus inflatable mattresses, if needed) and an eco bathroom that’s got a hot shower and dry toilet. Bed linen is provided, along with a kettle, a cooker, a coolbox, lighting and outdoor furniture. It’s all part of a 25-acre site at a family-run property that’s flanked by wildlife-filled woodlands and meadows of grazing cows. Shops, pubs, restaurants and other amenities are all up in Colyton.

The site is off the beaten track with stunning views everywhere you look. It’s so peaceful yet easy to drive or walk to local beaches or towns. The bell tent was perfect, very well equipped with everything we could have thought of & more! Hot showers were a bonus after a long walk. Fantastic place to star gaze too once the sun has set. Ian was very helpful explaining the footpaths around the site & further afield. Oh, and there is a rope swing too - enough said 😆

The tent was so cute, it had everything you'd need for a glamping trip. It was my first glamping experience and I loved every minute. The little touches were well thought out. The views were amazing. It was very private with only 1 other tent on site. No WiFi but good phone signal here, not that you need WiFi as it's so close to the sea and other lovely towns nearby and nice to get away from it all. Good communication from the owners, very friendly and went out of their way to make us feel at home. Definitely recommend a stay here.

Loved the secluded campsite and beautiful setting. Tents were small (4ft) for a family of four but we made it work and the tents and campsite were very well equipped. Ian was always on call for any help we needed and was very responsive. The kids loved the fields that surround the campsite as well as the rope swing in the bottom corner of the field.

    Disliked:

No running water on the campsite itself is a bit of a pain (there is a tap a short distance away) while the lack of hot water makes it a bit more rustic than glamping would suggest. The camp shower, while a nice thought, is just not practical as it is too low to use as a shower - we used it more as a tap point for the washing up point.

Amazing views and a good sized tent for 2. Comfortable bed and space for baggage. With only 2 tents on the site the site is secluded and quiet. The tents come with a couple of pans to cook with and all the necessary cutlery and cooking utensils alongside blankets, hot water bottles, dominos and cards which were also nice to have. Ian and Nicky were the perfect hosts and nothing was too much trouble. They were always ready with advice on the local area and where to eat if you’re not planning on cooking loads. Lovely tranquil nights staring at the stars with a couple of beers. We also had a visit from some friendly cows! Highly recommended for a quiet glamping experience.

Nicky & Ian supplied a full bag of wood for free which was lovely. Great hosts! Thank you!

We expected a covered, powered outdoor shower but it was a shower bag - picture attached for reference.
