General

  • Family-friendly glamping site with lake views in central Cornwall
  • A 15-minute drive from the Eden Project; 20 minutes from Lappa Valley
  • Fully-furnished units with a barbecue and picnic bench; pubs nearby

Dreaming of a break within reach of rainforest biomes, steam trains and historic gardens? From Southernhay Holidays, you’ll be in a good spot to fulfil your craving for the Cornwall countryside and its attractions without giving up the little creature comforts, as the family-friendly site is 15 minutes’ drive from the Eden Project and 20 minutes from Lappa Valley.

The glamping site is in rather a scenic spot with lake views. Here, you’ll also have the comfort of fully-furnished units – each with comfy mattresses, white-striped linen, bath robes and soft white towels. Handily, each pitch has its own barbecue and picnic bench too, so you'll be able to recount the day’s tales in peace and privacy.

Feeling fresh is part and parcel here, as there are hand sanitising stations around the site and well-maintained showers and toilets in the amenities block.

With the A30 one mile away, the site is well-connected to a fair few spots, including Padstow, Charlestown, Mevagissey, Newquay and St Ives. And when you’re just looking for somewhere to pick any bits on bobs you didn’t pack, there are food shops five minutes’ drive away.

Those of you who like to tune into a pub in the evening (whether to source home-cooked food or a nice pint) may also be happy to hear that there are several within five minutes’ drive of the site.

I really enjoyed the stay. Really well equipped and clean campsite.08/23/2021

Beds were comfy and tent lights very pretty. Bath robes, towels provided were great and the kitchen was really well equipped with crockery, fridges, freezer and a small 2 ring hob. Picnic crockery was also provided in a hamper in the tent. Shower gel, shampoo and conditioner in the showers were really helpful and smelled amazing. Welcome text message was super useful. The common areas were cleaned really well twice a day. Very thoughtful hosts.

    Disliked:

The tent got a bit damp inside. Not sure if it was condensation or the waterproofing was going a bit. A couple of the kids beds ended up touching the canvas and got very wet.. Had to strip them off but it was the last night so we made do. Despite mats on the ground it was muddy on the path up to the toilet.. Could perhaps have done with some wood chips down.

Disappointing. Massively over priced for what you get.08/11/2021

  • Woodpecker bell tent (six man, double)

  • Liked:

Parts were nice, Comfy beds, warm duvets, pretty lights. Own bbq & utensils, outdoor seating. Horses in near field.

    Disliked:

Cold showers, dirty floors, lots of bugs in tent, muddy walk far from car, no hairdryers or plugs in changing area.
    Should be cleaned more regularly.
Massively Over priced.. offering luxury / glamping but in reality someone’s back garden with a shed for toilets and an old outbuilding with a couple of showers & kitchen.

Amazing place for glamping. Clean toilets and showers. Parking is provided for one car per tent. The kitchen has everything you need. There are barbeque grills, a fireplace, and a comfy common area with games. I like that they provide recycling bins for different types of rubbish. The tent was very cute. Comfy beds. I would like to return to this place!

    Disliked:

If you struggle to sleep with noise aroud, just consider that the camping area is shared with other 8 tents or so. On the second night there was a group of people staying in the tent next to us who were very noisy until 6am. We could not sleep well and had to drive back home feeling very tired. I think this place is more suitable if you are planning to party along with the people in other tents rather than having a deep silent sleep (depending on who is staying on the night).
