Penventon House Campsite is a quiet site in the gardens surrounding Penventon House, in the Cornwall village of Lanner. It’s a most handy spot for getting in, out and all about, as it’s got easy access from the A393 and is within walking distance of the village’s shops, bakery and pubs.
Looking a little further afield, the central Cornwall location 10 minutes’ drive from Redruth makes it straightforward to get to all corners of the county, including the beaches of both north and south coasts, walks on the Lizard Peninsula and arty days in St Ives.
There’s only a handful of pitches here, so it’s a particularly fine choice for those seeking a quiet little haven with nature all around. But despite its small size, the list of facilities here is lengthy: there’s a tea room in a converted vintage potting shed (with electric sockets, charging leads, a kettle, microwave, toaster, sink and dustbin), a sauna in the garden (for an extra charge), barbecues and firewood (all free of charge) and wifi (at no extra charge, although the signal might not be equally strong in all parts of the site).
On top of that little lot, there’s a toilet in the conservatory attached to the main house and a modern hot shower in a converted telephone box situated in the garden, plus an extra outdoor cold shower (handy for those with wetsuits… or a sense of adventure).
