  • Family- and dog-friendly site a mile from stunning Mousehole harbour
  • Ramblers’ paradise: easy access to the South West Coast Path
  • A 25-minute drive from Land's End, 20 minutes from top surfing spots
Cornish beaches, busy towns and a scenic fishing village with a great story… You get it all at Mousehole Camping, a peaceful family site in the village of Paul, five minutes’ drive from Mousehole and 15 minutes from Penzance. Mousehole Camping is a prime spot to base yourself for some exploration of Cornwall: in nearby Penzance, you can pick up the South West Coast Path and the St Ives Bay Line, bringing the dog along so the two of you can call into some of the dog-friendly pubs along the route. Make your way into Mousehole and down to the harbour to laze on the beach or do as the locals do and fish… then wander the cobbled streets, nose around galleries and local shops, and eat at the fishy-focused restaurants. Back on site, Mousehole Camping is in the grounds of a local football club, where matches can occur at short notice (the site tries to minimise the disruption but bear this in mind). Guests get free entry to the football matches, where a clubhouse bar is open on match days. The facilities (a couple of minutes' walk from the main camping area) are shared with the football club and include a toilet, showers (within the changing rooms) and an accessible toilet/shower room. On match days, the shower and washing-up area are shut, while the toilets remain open, and during low season, only the accessible toilet/shower room are open (and cleaned on an ad-hoc basis). There's also wifi. Barbecues are allowed: pick up supplies from the supermarkets in Penzance or fresh fish from the port in Newlyn, five minutes away. If you’d prefer a break from cooking, stroll to the village pub for some food and drinks, or try one of the restaurants within 15 minutes of the site. Please note that this site is run by volunteers. From mid-September until Easter, there are no permanent staff on site. As a peaceful site, music should be kept to a minimum and quiet hours begin at 10pm.

Electric hardstanding and grass motorhome pitch

Liked Pitch as even and well positioned with a small area of grass. The actual site was clean and well kept. Logs and fire pits on offer for a small charge for the RNLI which was nice. Lady in charge was very nice and friendly.

Disliked Portaloo on site was dreadful. Couldn’t use it. Showers and toilets a long walk away over an adjoining football pitch. Although we were made aware they were not right on site the distance was ambiguous in the booking information. The facilities on offer were that of the football ground and were closed to campers on match days. Luckily this didnt affect us but wouldn’t have been ideal. The facilities themselves were not really of a high standard and the communal showers with only a rather old looking shower curtain between them were really not very user friendly. We paid less to stay at other sites on our trip with fantastic facilities so I think until the facilities can be improved a price review wouldn’t be amiss. As things are we wouldn’t stay again.

From the manager: Paula
Thank you for your very fair review.
We’re glad that you liked the flat pitches, Sue’s hospitality and friendliness and the clean well kept site. We also appreciate your support of the RNLI through our fire pits and wood sales scheme.
We agree with you that the facilities shared with the football club are becoming a little tired and that the short walk to the clubhouse for showers and clean toilets is not ideal. The good news is that the club has now completed its new tarmaced access road which will provide a great opportunity for the club to improve the whole site going forwards.
Thanks again for your comments and suggestions which are welcomed,
Paul & Sue

Electric hardstanding and grass motorhome pitch

Liked Sue is very welcoming and helpful . The site is very well kept and shower rooms and toilets spotless , lovely hot showers . Although these are a little walk away from site it is not a problem at all . The site is in a brilliant place with easy access to lots of lovely places . I would go again

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your excellent review.
We note that you found the site to be very well kept with spotless shower rooms and toilets and lovely hot showers in spite of the short walk around the pitch.
You also comment on our great location - we are fortunate to be in a beautiful part of Cornwall just a 15 minute walk to the iconic Mousehole harbour and just 10 miles from Lands End. Finally we are very pleased that you found Sue to be very welcoming and helpful.
We hope to see you again,

Thank you for your review.
We’re glad that you enjoyed the location.
Yes, we appreciate that our facilities are unusual as we are based around the football club but we do clearly state this on our website and in our arrival information. Despite the short walk we hope that you found the showers to be hot and the facilities to be clean.

Electric hardstanding and grass motorhome pitch

Liked It’s a beautiful spot and my daughter enjoyed watching the football practice. It’s a great spot to explore Mousehole and take a but to Penzance.

Disliked As mentioned there is a little walk to the toilet but they were all clean and nice. Also there were baby swallows which made it special.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Melinda,
Thank you for your review.
Yes, it is a beautiful spot in Cornwall just 10 miles from Lands End and very convenient for attractions such as St. Michael’s Mount, the Minak theatre, St. Ives, family friendly and good surfing beaches. We are also very conveniently placed for South West Coast Path walkers and cyclists.
As for your stay we’re pleased that your daughter enjoyed the football and our nesting baby swallows!!
Your comment about our facilities is also fair. They are shared with the football club and are a short walk around the pitch but we work hard to keep them clean and presentable.
Thanks again,
Paul & Sue

Electric optional grass tent or campervan pitch

Liked Hospitality, lovely welcome, help choosing pitch, WiFi, pub a quick ten minute walk away, football ground next door for us to play. Loved the picnic bench table for each pitch, a real help.

Disliked Football club changing rooms are the shower block (the club own the site including the camp site). Could’ve been cleaner, dried grass in the changing room and shower cubicles not overly clean.

From the manager: Tim
Thank you for your very fair review.
We control what we can control - good hospitality, friendliness, pitch flexibility, wi-fi, picnic bench and also spend a lot of time keeping the shower and toilet areas clean but if you’ve gone for a shower after someone has left grass from theirs then we obviously can’t clean up after everyone.
However, it sounds like you had a positive stay with us in the main and we hope that your onwards cycling adventures go well 👍🏻
Thanks again,

Electric optional grass tent or campervan pitch

Liked We like the quality and size of the pitches. Very well drained and after a prolonged dry period and heavy rain due, I was worried about flooding, but it was absolutely fine.

The space between pitches is good, with a large open space for kids to run around and to walk the dog.

This is a lovely quiet site but close enough to walk to Mousehole, and a handy bus stop. Short drive to Penzance and 5 mins drive from shops, fish and chips and the incredible pastys at Auntie Mays!

The staff were incredibly friendly, couldn't do enough for us, and there was a lovely relaxing feel around the site.

Lovely hot showers and warm changing rooms.

Disliked The changing rooms are a bit of a walk away from the tent, and are open plan. didn't bother me and I had them to myself every time I went .

There is a closer portaloo, but I absolutely stank and I couldn't use it. Was being empied on the day we left so it could of been a one off.

Thank you for your 10/10 review.
We’re glad that you enjoyed our large, flat grass pitches with room on the camping field for your children and dogs to be active.
We’re also glad that you appreciated our helpful, friendly and welcoming staff, the hot showers and our overall relaxed family vibe.
The campsite portaloo is indeed for overnight emergency use to provide the option to avoid the longer walk to the clubhouse loos but, yes, by its nature it will not be as clean as our main toilets and showers that are cleaned very regularly.

Please note that the access road from Newlyn is narrow. To access the site, you will need to go over a small ramp, so this site is not recommended for motorhomes over seven metres. When arriving from Penzance, do not use the road via Mousehole village, as it is narrow and unsuitable for larger vehicles. Instead, take the B3315 (Chywoone Hill) from Newlyn, which is signposted Paul and Land’s End.

Local attractions

Fans of BBC costume drama Poldark will find plenty to keep them occupied around here, with many names and places to recognise: Godolphin House, the mines at Botallack and Levant, and Porthcurno beach (Nampara Cove) are all within half an hour of Mousehole Camping and all worth a visit. Of course, if your passions lie less in TV drama and more in the arts, you won’t be let down – catching a show at the Minack Theatre, an open-air theatre carved into the cliffs above Porthcurno, is an absolute must. You can’t very well make a trip to this part of Cornwall and not visit the most westerly point of mainland England… Land’s End is a 25-minute drive from Mousehole Camping. Be sure to get a photo with the famed sign, and stop for a Cornish cream tea before you leave. Anyone drawn to the ocean will have plenty to do too: the top-notch surfing beach at Sennen is 20 minutes away, boat trips out to the Scilly Isles leave Penzance regularly, and the stunning St Michael’s Mount is a short walk along a causeway or an even shorter boat journey from the coast.
