  • Basic pop-up site on a family-run farm under two miles from Penzance
  • Walking distance from Penzance, Chysauster Ancient Village and woods
  • Pub, pasty shop, shopping, harbour and footpaths a short walk away
Pretty Penzance is just two miles away from Kenegie Farm Campsite in the Cornwall countryside. Just off the coast, this family-run farm site is in a top spot for sandy beach days, boat trips and having the run of the coastline, among other activities, as it's 40 minutes’ walk away from Long Rock Beach, Penzance’s harbour and promenade and Chysauster Ancient Village (a historic heritage site). The pitches are planted in a large, regularly-mowed field off the side of the farm business and they boast some splendid country views, as you might expect. That includes local fields and hillsides, as well as resident wildlife passing through, including buzzards, deer and moorland ponies. There’s plenty of open, flat ground to get geared up for a game of ball or whip out a kite when the wind’s just right. Plus, with Penzance town centre down below, you’ll be a short walk away from shopping, trips from the boatyard, museums, galleries and good walking trails (there are more of those in Trevaylor Woods, 35 minutes’ walk away). The foodies among you might be happy to find that the site’s local pub is just 20 minutes’ walk away (that’s a yes to food and good ales) or there’s a popular pasty shop down at Long Rock Beach. The farm has been in the family for generations and the facilities for the site are of the pop-up style, so they remain quite simple and include portable toilets and water taps for convenience. The place is dog-friendly too, so you can bring your family pet along to join the fun.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Easy booking process, very informative and helpful email from site owner upon booking, temporary site located on a farm so no permanent facilities, nice quiet camping field, friendly owners, good rural location near to town, shops and beaches but far enough away to be private with no road noise etc.
Plenty of space with a relaxed atmosphere
Excellent views of the night sky on a clear night due to very little light pollution, great for spotting shooting stars!

From the manager: Thank you very much for leaving your review. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay and managed to do some star gazing and see some shooting stars! Hopefully we'll see you again soon :)

Non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked Nothing ended up going somewhere else, nobody at all there when we finally found it after going up and down big hills at least 4 times and asking different people if they knew were it was.when we arrived not one other single camper to be seen in an overgrown field, took our chances and left didn't feel secure, we knew we weren't going to get much for price but didn't expect it so bad

Disliked Everything

From the manager: I'm very sorry you had such a bad experience trying to stay at our pop-up campsite. I've taken your comments into consideration and managed to update google, to better pin point the site and added additional signs in better locations on the entrance and the field has also been cut. There was another camper staying that night, however they were in a van and had gone into town for dinner. Again I really am sorry about your experience, and I hope you enjoyed your overall holiday in Cornwall.
Kind Regards
Tessa

Non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked The water tap

Disliked The field needed a mow, there was no other campers despite it saying there were only 3 spaces left. We were 2 women (mother and daughter) and to know that we could potentially be the only ones in the field would have been useful from a safety perspective. We would not have picked it. The toilets were porta loos. Again would have been useful to know. The only bin in the whole field was completely over flowing and spilling on to the floor. I didn’t expect much for £15 but I expected a little more than what we got. We stayed in a field the night before for £5 and there was no overflowing bins, the grass had been cut and it felt safe.

From the manager: Thankyou Heidi for leaving your review. I'm very sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your experience at our campsite. The wheelie bin was put at the end of the drive for collection, it was unfortunate it was not replaced before the litter bin was filled. It has now been dealt with. The grass has been arranged to be cut, hopefully it will be soon. As for the safely, again I am very sorry you didn't feel safe. The farm has a number of different family members living here, and the holiday park next door is quite close. As a small pop up campsite by law we can have no more than 4 caravan / motor home pitches. However we do have 20+ camping pitches. As the facilities are very basic, we usually have people who are touring the county and stay for 2 nights or so. As such I must admit I can't guarantee other campers being on site, sometimes there is just one and sometimes there are many more. I can however assure you that in Cornwall we have a very low crime rate and not being too close to the town, means the property, farm and campsite are in a safe location, where you shouldn't need to feel worried if you are the only ones staying. I have taken your comments into consideration though and I will try to see what I can improve for the future.
Many Thanks Tessa
