Family camping fun

  • Family-friendly Cornish holiday park on Trevose Head
  • A 15 minute-drive from Padstow and half an hour from Newquay
  • Sandy beaches nearby: Harlyn Bay and Constantine Bay 20 minutes' walk
With its lighthouse, coastal vistas and fab beaches, Trevose Head is something like the Cornish coast in miniature. If you're looking for seaside capers with your nearest and dearest, Harlyn Sands could well be the place. The site is family-run and works hard to be a welcoming spot for you and your tribe. Younger kids are well served here, as there's a play area, TV and games rooms and kids' club to keep them happily occupied. In the evening, there are special events for all to enjoy (and a bar is on hand for mums and dads who fancy a nightcap after the show). Harlyn Sands is also a handy kind of place: there's a food shop on site should you need to stock up on essentials. Barbecues are allowed for alfresco dining, but takeaway options are also available if you'd rather skip the cooking. If you need a supermarket, take a 15-minute drive down the road to Padstow. The site makes no secret of the fact that it caters mostly to families (furry friends included), so teens need to be mindful that they don't stay out too late or disturb the peace.

What customers say

Great spot, close to beaches. Staff get a thumbs up. Pitches are spacious. Facilities, especially loos and showers, are a bit old and could do with a spruce. Kids love the entertainment. Might get busy and a bit noisy, and some reckon the pool's pricey.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Fantastic family aimed entertainment aimed entirely at children for majority of the night, cannot praise enough how much they do for children.

Beautiful site, exceptionally kept facilities considering its peak season - best i have ever seen.

Bare essentials on site if needed without having to travel.

Gem of a beach within walking distance.

Onsite pool which was immaculate and great for a rainy day entertainment (wish there was an option to pay a little extra to have this included rather than pay per session as it can get a little expensive with 2 parents and 3 children.

Showers immaculate and actually stay warm and running the entire time without having to keep pressing a button so 20p per 4 mins is a small price to pay for such luxury on a site.

Super friendly staff throughout the entire site including a fabulous entertainment team.

WiFi in club perfect.
Not a lot of service on mobile data on site but when in Cornwall where does ?

Disliked Pool per session payments.

If you don’t time showers correct there was the odd queue but only see this once in an entire week peak season so that’s being nit picky and trying to find a problem

Beach Field Zone 2 electric grass pitch

Liked Wonderful location. Well marked out pitches and quiet over night. Very busy with older children and younger teens. Staff were friendly.

Disliked Facilities were tired and could do with a revamp. The 20p showers are also out of date and inconvenient. The entertainment was a bit brits abroad. A very very busy site on the BH weekend we visited.

Beach Field Zone 3 electric grass pitch

Liked Proximity to beach and South West Coastal Path.

Disliked Distance to toilets from beach field.
Toilets not the cleanest.
While the pitch was a generous size, there were far too many people crammed in to the field, and therefore not enough open space.

Beach Field Zone 3 electric grass pitch

Liked The view of the beach was great on beach field.

Shops and food places on site lots of space on the pitch

Nice beaches

Disliked Showers !!! For the price of a pitch the showers should be a lot better condition these are very dated and not nice at all

Chip shop took 45 mins for us to get our food the girl who was packing the food kept going missing and not serving orders lots of people were frustrated with the service I understand it’s busy but if she stopped wondering off there would be no complaints.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Proximity to the beach is outstanding.
Dog friendly for our family, so we get all enjoy the beach.
Lots of space on the beach you could stay there all day.
Proximity to Padstow is phenomenal.
Showering facilities were good, I liked the separate section of dry and wet. (You need 20p pieces to use the shower, I knew this before I went and took ample of change with us. I spent £60 a day on my shower and it was well worth it.
Shop on site had fresh butcher's meat delivered.

Disliked Showers could have been larger to accommodate the huge site.
Entertainment area felt old and outdated.
Entertainment was shocking.
The pitches are a little tight, but this did mean we got to know our neighbours. 🙂

Beach Field Zone 2 electric grass pitch

Liked Brilliant location, short walk to so many beaches and a lovely hours walk on the coastal path to Treyarnon Bay which is gorgeous. We even did the slightly longer 6 mile walk into padstow on the coastal path.
Amenities were clean and had plenty of toilets and showers. Shop onsite had whatever we needed for our stay.
Gorgeous view from the pitch and lots of space on the beach field.

Disliked As we were parked on the beach field the toilets were a decent distance away, it was fine for our two night stay but worth noting if thinking of staying longer!

Local attractions

Folk in search of some beach time have come to the right spot, as Harlyn Bay and Constantine Bay can both be reached within 20 minutes on foot. Guarded by the RNLI between May and September, these splendid stretches of sand are hubs for snorklers and swimmers, and each has its own surf school - mighty handy if you want to learn to board in a safe environment. Padstow (15 minutes' drive) is a fishing town that's quite a draw for foodies seeking fresh, locally sourced products. Whether you fancy good old fish and chips or Michelin-starred dining, you can be pretty sure you'll find it here. Newquay, a major surf resort, is half an hour away. As well as the seafront, head here for buccaneering adventures at Pirate's Quest activity centre, or get up close and personal with marine life at the Blue Reef Aquarium. Just up the coast from Newquay (40 minutes from base) is Healeys Cornish Cyder Farm, home to both fine scrumpy and cute cuddly farm animals. The South Cornwall coast is also within easy reach: drive 40 minutes down through the countryside if you fancy a trip to the Eden Project or St Austell.
