Trying to decide between Devon and Cornwall for your break? Members of the Caravan and Motorhome Club can solve this dilemma by staying at Lower Dutson Farm Certificated Location, in a handy location five minutes’ drive from Launceston and close to the border between these two fabulous counties. This peaceful site is part of a traditional family-run farm that’s home to cattle and sheep as well as having its own lake that’s popular with local wildlife. There’s just a small number of pitches here, and they’re all reserved for CAMC members only – so there should be plenty of space for all guests to relax and get their pitch set up just as they want it (perhaps with an awning, a gazebo or an outdoor table). As this site is designed for fairly self-sufficient tourers, the owners have kept the facilities list on the minimal side – you’ll have access to a toilet block though, along with electric hookups, mains water and a chemical disposal point. Dogs are welcome on site, as long as they’re kept on a lead when around livestock. Dog owner or not, you may like to take the short walk from the pitches through the fields to the River Tamar. You can fish on the river too, or in the site’s pretty coarse fishing lake – just note that there’s an extra charge for this. Walkers are well catered for too, with some nice strolls to be had along the edge of the river and lake, and the Tamara Coast to Coast Way close by. Beyond all that, you’ll be not far from Bodmin Moor, Dartmoor National Park and the north Cornwall coast for beaches and seaside walks.

  • The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. XL Bully, Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).
  • Your dog must be tattooed or microchipped.

Admission

  • This site only accepts bookings from existing Caravan and Motorhome Club members: please provide your membership number in the 'Special requests' box when booking.
  • Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Liked Everything! Picked our own pitch opposite the fishing lake. Great sized pitches, relatively level. Clean, tidy site but still very natural, not manicured! Francis is welcoming and friendly, also very informative. Site bins emptied daily and toilets cleaned regularly. Well stocked lake with ample swims for several anglers. Francis is happy for you to feed the cattle and will advise on safe foods for them. There’s a lovely walk through the farm fields down to the river. And there’s plenty of wildlife to be enjoyed around the site, bats, squirrels, owls, foxes and plenty of birds including some birds of prey! And there’s even a beauty salon on hand! Vicky at Broad Beauty is friendly and dedicated to her work, treatments are varied and well priced in a lovely setting overlooking the farmland, you can walk up from your pitch or take a 2 minute drive! An absolute gem set in a beautiful corner of Cornwall with the Devon border on your doorstep. Please read the directions given , it’s worth your while to ensure an easy arrival. There’s a little hill to negotiate that can be busy but the locals are patient and accommodating when they see you towing, we had no problems at all on our arrival or departure. The site is well placed for exploring both Cornwall and Devon and is served well by the garden centre nearby, a fuel station at the bottom of the aforementioned hill, a fish and chip shop and various other shops. There are supermarkets a short drive away and easy access to the A30 and other main roads. The site does have some caravans stored there but they don’t detract from the beauty of the site. A small number of tourers accommodated but all served with electric hook up and plenty of space. If you like peace and quiet, lovely walks and views, fishing and relaxing, beauty treatments on the doorstep, then this is one site you should visit, you won’t be disappointed. It’s certainly in our top ten! We’ll be back after spending two lovely relaxing weeks there. Well done Francis for creating such a lovely place in the world!
