  • Spacious serviced touring pitches near Mullion on the Lizard Peninsula
  • Under 10 minutes' drive from Cadgwith and Kynance Cove; 15 to Helston
  • Family-run site with a small shop for local produce; dogs welcome
Get close to the coast in a particularly pretty part of Cornwall at Bochym Pasture. This swish spot is a scenic and peaceful place to reside in between coastal roams along the Lizard Peninsula, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty close to Mullion village. The small family-run farm site has just a handful of touring pitches, so you can be sure there's going to be plenty of space to relax while you’re there too. Each level pitch is on an all-weather surface with lawn around for sprawling out on should you wish, and there are no restrictions on how you set your kit up. They’re simple to access too, as a reinforced grass road has been set up across the field. Services are all sorted too: there’s a tap and electrical connection for each pitch, and guests have access to handy amenities including wifi, recycling bins and a chemical disposal point. A particularly tasty addition is the small shop selling Cornish free-range eggs and bacon for your breakfast and local ice cream for whenever you fancy a treat. Once you’re sated and ready for the day, getting out and about is easy: the site is 15 minutes’ drive from Helston – a handy place to pick up supermarket essentials – and under 10 minutes’ drive from cute Cadgwith and stunning Kynance Cove (best visited at low tide if you’ll be wanting to spread out on the sand). Spending time on site is rather lovely too: by day you can take dogs for strolls along the nature walk around the 10-acre field (look out for owls, nightingales and badgers as you go…) and by night the dark skies mean there’s great stargazing – you can sometimes see the Milky Way with the naked eye from here.

Fully-serviced touring pitch

Liked: Lovely peaceful campsite with open views of fields. Fully serviced pitch including your own chemical waste disposal point. Location is excellent for visiting the numerous beaches and clifftop walks of the lizard. Supermarkets close by. Wifi on the pitch was good. Being able to set your caravan and kit up how you want with no restrictions.

Disliked: although there is a big field to walk the dogs around (on a lead due to sheep close by), there is no access for walking anywhere so had to drive everywhere to exercise the dogs.

Local attractions

This sought-after section of Cornwall is crammed full of things to do and places to see. Start off with walks along the Lizard Peninsula for far-reaching views across the Atlantic around Lizard Lighthouse away or pretty Poldhu Cove (both 10 minutes’ drive away). If you’re up for intrepid inland trips, Bonython Estate Gardens’ colourful shrubs and eyecatching water features are five minutes’ drive while the injured animals at the Cornish Seal Sanctuary in Gweek take 15 minutes to reach. Stay away from the coast for underground adventures on a tour of the Poldark Mine & The Cornish Heritage Collection (20 minutes) – yep, the one from that TV programme – or saunter back to the seaside to seek out St Michael's Mount, an islet topped with a stately home half an hour from the farm. On the opposite side of the coast, the gorgeous town of St Ives – for the Tate art gallery and white sand beaches – is 40 minutes’ drive away.
