What customers say

Huge campsite with loads of fields, great for groups/families. Riverside spots are popular for water sports and walks. Staff are often friendly. Facilities generally clean but basic, some mention mess when busy. Road and camper noise are noted.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked We stayed for 1 night in a non electric field as we wanted space for our nervous dog and didn’t want to be too near other people and we wasn’t disappointed. Lots of room to ourselves and lots of privacy

Disliked Far away from the toilets

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Huge site with plenty of pitches to choose from. Not at all crowded. Toilet block very clean.
Access to the river for dinghies, paddle boards etc
Loads of space for kids to play.
Friendly site.

Disliked The access road to the field near the river was full of pot holes. Not a massive problem but something to be aware of

Electric grass pitch

Liked We loved our stay at The Hop Farm, lovely space, amazing views, the river was so much fun, boot market, clean facilities and a very friendly woman a reception, what is no to like, we will be booking again soon.

Disliked We got a reminder to keep the noise level down after the first night, which we just disregard and enjoyed our stay. I guess the staff needs to act on complaints.
We were not loud as we are considerate people , we did not have load music playing or anything as such just a drink and a nice chat with the family inside the tent ( only 4 of us and 2 kids sleeping in the tent), how loud could we had been?!
There was loud music being played around and people chatting, giggling, fire pits going - a nice holiday atmosphere, would we complaint ? NO, that’s what a holiday is for, if we wanted a quiet night and to go to bed at 9 pm we would have stayed at home.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Location for elec hook up was central.
Liked the relaxed vibe, not strict with all the rules in place allowed flexibility in pitching together which made experience more wholesome for our family (within reason of course).

Disliked Toilets were cleaned frequently but those camping appeared to be unfamiliar with common courtesy and hygiene.

From the manager: Thank you for choosing to stay with us.
It is unfortunate that The Hop Farm and Family Park is closed as guests got half price entry to visit between 10am and 4pm weekends and school holiday. The Brewers Fayre has a small play area but it is more suitable for younger children. We used to be able to sell perishables before the farm cafe closed as they could take our stock that was coming close to sell by date.
We ran out of wood on the Friday evening and so did other places in the area.
We look forward to welcoming you again.

Needs a park.

Electric grass pitch

Liked That it wasn’t too far from lots of national trust places. Close to the beefeater and although this was ok, it’s very tired outside and lots of the seating areas were unusable but food and drink prices as expected.
Lots of toilets and shower facilities.

Disliked The lack of things to do for the children. We knew the hop farm park was closed as it states it on the booking however, there is no additional play area for the children and they are unable to go into the water due to blue algae (obviously not the campsites fault). Pitches for electric hook up are close together and not very big. Shop didn’t stock any of the things we needed during our stay.

From the manager: Thank you for choosing to stay with us for 3 nights over the school holidays.
As there is no play park on site, the Brewers Fayre within a few minutes walk where you went has an outdoor play area but probably more suitable for under 10 year olds.
There are adventure parks within a 15 minute drive which are free to enter with additional payable activities to suit older children and an Aqua Chimp just a few minutes drive away. We have a field opposite the electric pitches for kite flying and ball games.
We are not able to stock perishable foods however to get to the co-op it is a nice walk along the river path or a 10-20 minute drive to several supermarkets.
Perhaps you will visit again to enjoy the country and river walks and bring some indoor and outdoor games for you and the family to enjoy together.

Local attractions

Once the kids let you off site, Kent (aka The Garden of England) has beaches, historic towns, forests and more castles, stately homes (and gardens) open to the public than anywhere else in the country. If this isn't enough, Paddock Wood railway station is five minutes’ drive from The Hop Farm for a train to London, less than an hour away. Dover is within 60 miles for a day trip to France. Kent has 350 miles of coastline, with Blue Flag beaches, watersports and those famous white cliffs at Dover. Eight of the 11 Blue Flaggers are in Ramsgate, Margate and Broadstairs; Whitstable and Herne Bay are also popular with oyster eaters, anglers and jetskiers. There are umpteen options for families in the area including play centres, farms, horse riding and days out. Howletts Wild Animal Park at Canterbury has the biggest group of looked-after gorillas in the world and experiences for visitors such as junior ranger days. Penshurst Place and Gardens has historical re-enactments, children’s trails, an adventure playground and special events during the school holidays. Both Leeds Castle at Maidstone and Hever Castle near Edenbridge are family-friendly and packed with activities and events. There’s a Go Ape! at Leeds Castle as well as two mazes, boat trips, falconry displays, underground grotto and the Knights' Realm Playground, a scale model of the castle (and a golf course and golf instruction for the grownups). Hever, the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, has a yew maze and water maze, award-winning gardens and a topiary. Back with the big folk, the old market towns of Tonbridge, Maidstone, Sevenoaks and Tonbridge Wells are close by for shopping and sightseeing. Bluewater shopping centre is in Greenhithe (rival Lakewater is just over the Essex border at West Thurrock).
