General

  • Set on six acres of south-east Kent countryside
  • Four miles from the beach at Deal
  • Clubhouse with bar, playground and sundeck area

Huzzah, it's the Kent coast. And huzzah, it's Sutton Vale Holiday Park, an amicable and well-maintained setting for Kent-based seaside hols.

Sutton Vale is about four miles from the nearest sands (and award-winning high street) of Deal, and is easily accessible to the historical landmarks of Sutton Vale as well as the rest of Kent: it's seven miles to 11th-century Dover Castle and a mere three in the other direction to Deal's 16th-century coastal artillery fort.

But some guests decide to stick around on site for large chunks of their hol instead… The friendly Sutton Vale team reckon it's sorted enough to do to keep the whole family entertained: there's an outdoor playground, and a barbecue and sundeck area at the clubhouse, which was newly refurbished in 2018.

The bar has a good range of locally brewed ales for the adults to sample while the kids get stuck into what's on offer in the amusements room (or play with the free wifi).

    Disliked:

the swimming pool was shut (we were informed about a week before our holiday) the barriers never worked to let us back on to the camp site, so we had to hoot everytime and once got stuck out there for ages because the bar shut at 1900hrs so no one was there when we got back at 1930hrs. it was in the middle of no where so going out for the eveing was out of the question. not very good wont be returning.

From the manager...

Firstly, we would like to thank you for taking the time to leave us a review.

We are very sorry for the inconvenience of the pool being closed, however this was a situation out of our control. We did however offer guests to go and use a nearby pool in which we would reimburse you for. With regards to the barrier, again we can only apologise for the inconvenience of the system not working as it should have. However, there is a call system located at the barrier for any issues with getting in, which a member of staff will always answer and let you through.

Please accept our sincere apologies.

was a lovely place but had to cut short the trip because of the weather but cant be helped. was a bit disappointed the meals had stopped because of end of season on the site but went to the plough which i believe is attached and had amazing meals. will be coming back with family next year. the toilets and showers were kept clean at all times and the washing up room too.

    Disliked:

the showers were a bit of a pain near the tent pitches with having to keep press the button every few seconds to keep it going and wasn't very warm either.

From the manager...

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review.

Were thrilled you enjoyed your stay and would like to return!

We apologise for the inconvenience of the food but pleased you enjoyed the food at our local pub, The Plough. I would also like to add that moving forward we will be running a shuttle bus to and from The Plough, along with trips to Deal and Dover.

The shower facilities at the camping field are designed to save on water, this is why they are all equipped with the push buttons. We are however sorry this caused an inconvenience for you.

Again, we thank you for your review and look forward to seeing you again in the future!

We stayed at Sutton Vale Country Park for 2 nights over the last weekend before the children were due to return to school. The Campsite was welcoming and the food as the pub on site was very good. There was a small park for the children to play and a a large field where the tents were pitched. We throughly enjoyed our stay. The toilets were always clean and smelled of cleaning products, the staff couldn't be more helpful and we were very comfortable and self safe on this site.

Before we arrived the staff had registered the number plate of the car which meant that the barrier at the front of the site opened as we approached to leave and enter the site. So no checking in or out, coded gates or being back before the gate was locked! I had never seen this before and thought this was a great ides! Pretty good!

There is wifi available in the pub but not on the rest of the site, which is to be expected. This site is located 10 minute drive from the closest supermarket, castles and coast which all have free parking if you're a member of the English Heratige.

My daughter thoroughly enjoyed herself playing with the other children on site, playing and flying her kite with them till after dark! We definitely felt safe here.

    Disliked:

We chose to book this because of the indoor swimming pool, when we checked in we were told that the pool was closed as they were waiting test results. This was disappointing however we was told that if we were to go swimming at the local pool then our tickets would be refunded.

The field were the tents were be to pitched was a good size, however, all the people who were checking on where put on pitches next to each other, meaning we were down onside of the pitch whilst the rest of the pitch was empty, leaving a space between each tent would have been appreciated as there was not many of us on the site.

The general maintenance of the pitch could have been better, there was cigarette butts all over parts of the pitch but this is not the land owners fault. The showers and toilets were in mobile units but were always clean and did the trick. A stool for the children in the bathrooms would be handy! and some oil on the squeaky doors!

I believe this site in probably overpriced, especially as we booked for the pool which wasn't available anyway but had everything else we was looking for.

From the manager...

We would like to thank you for taking the time to leave us a review! We are glad you enjoyed your stay overall and can only apologise for the inconvenience of the pool being closed, however this is something that was unfortunately out of our control as we cannot open without the pool test results. With regards to you being pitched close to others, again we can only apologise for this as we would usually leave space for privacy between pitches as and where we can. I would like to inform you that going forward to next year we plan on giving the pitches a revamp in regards to privacy, so there will be some sort of separation from yourself and the pitches either side of you. Thank you again for taking the time to leave this review and we hope to see you again in the future!

Kind Regards

Local attractions

You might have heard the moniker 'Garden of England' for the county of Kent, and it's a right fitting one as England's oldest county has 180 of the green green things, including the famed ones of Lullingstone Castle at Dartford. The closest gardens to Sutton Vale Holiday Park are less than three miles away at Walmer Castle.

The little towns of Deal and Sandwich are a short drive from the park, as is Dover, famed for its ferries, its castle and its chalky white cliffs. Also recommended is a look at nearby Ramsgate with its marina, waterfront and beach; Broadstairs, with peaceful harbour at which to picnic, and Margate, in its scenic setting with many restaurants and bars.

If you'd rather investigate local heritage when on hol, you're in the right place, as Kent has more castles and historic houses than any other English region. Local highlights include Canterbury, with cathedral, castle and some of the oldest Gothic and Romanesque architecture in the land; a puff on the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway, and beastly fun at Port Lympne Reserve.

Activities nearby include horse riding a mile away, golf five miles away and the Betteshanger Country Park cycling track, within three miles.
