  • Quiet glamping site surrounded by orchards in the Kent countryside
  • A 15-minute drive to Betteshanger Park and 25 minutes to Canterbury
  • Dog-friendly site; 20 minutes' walk from the local village shops
Time to kick back in Kent… With a quiet, tidy site with no electric but flushing toilets, hot showers and washing-up facilities as your base, you’ll be well situated for rambles in the Kent countryside, living it up on the coast and visiting various fishing spots on the sea, river or lake. Glamping in Kent really is a rather stunning Kent spot, spread across seven and a half acres and surrounded by countryside and apple and pear orchards. Aching for an active break? Good job this site is just 15 minutes’ drive away from Betteshanger Park, where there’s cycle hire, walking routes, a play area and a mining museum. There’s also a water park just five minutes’ drive away. As for those intending to be as lazy as possible, simply settle in and watch the wildlife (rabbits and bird species galore) in the orchards. The site is divided up by mature trees and hedging with many native plants. In an excellent extra touch, the site is also within walking distance of a vineyard (via public footpaths taking around 20 minutes) where you can sip on local wine, and there are lots of splendid spots for picnicking and wildlife watching along public footpaths through the countryside around the site. That’s any dog walks sorted for you too – the site accepts one small dog per pitch for an additional cost. Whenever you feel like a sweet treat (an ice cream perhaps?), the local village is a short 20-minute walk through the apple orchards and has a few small local shops. Clean, fresh and comfy is the stay they’ve crafted at the family-friendly Glamping in Kent. So, whether you’re stopping off for a short time before heading into Europe or plotting out a whole route around Kent’s historical sites and beaches, it’s all sweet. There’s also a selection of local PGA-accredited golf courses within a short drive of the site.

Non-electric grass and earth campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked This is a real gem of a campsite. Beautiful location and views. The facilities are some of the best we have encountered and the pitch sizes are spacious. With hot showers, flushing toilets (each with own basin) and areas for basins and a washing up facilities. It is a quiet site perfect for travelling to the nearby towns and coastline. Check in was easy, you can arrive out of hours by arrangements. Gary and Sara were lovely. Already looking forward to our next trip.

Disliked Having to leave at the end of our stay.

Non-electric grass and earth campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked A lovely, quiet campsite in the countryside (whilst being within short drives from Canterbury, Margate and Ramsgate). Beautiful views over local fields and orchards. Toilets and showers were exceptionally clean and well-maintained. Owners were friendly, helpful and were present on the site throughout our stay.

This site is great if you want to enjoy the countryside.

Non-electric grass and earth campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked The owners are lovely and very welcoming, the toilets and shower area are very clean, a lovely space to relax and enjoy

Disliked We came as an extended family with five tents and the owners were very helpful in putting us all together, the children had plenty of room to play but unfortunately the other campers complained about the noise and was watching us the whole time which put a damper on our stay, so if you have young children I wouldn’t recommend this camp site, I would say it’s more for a quiet stay, we also got a complaint about the children helping with the washing up because we used more than one tap, so if you want a nice quiet stay this is the perfect place I won’t be going back

Brilliant site with excellent facilities and friendly owners

Non-electric grass and earth campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Great pitches that gave you the option of sunshine or shade first thing in the morning, with plenty of space between them.

Really excellent toilets, showers and sinks - the owners have put in lots of effort to create some great facilities, and they were kept spotlessly clean throughout our stay. No smelly composting toilets here, proper flushing ones!

The owners let us arrive early to check in and were incredibly friendly and happy to share things to do in the area.

Disliked Very little - the only slight issue we had was despite the campsite not allowing amplified music, the family opposite us had a speaker playing until very late at night, followed by a drunken 2am shouting match. With nobody from the campsite staff on site overnight there wasn't much we could do about this. But I suspect it's a very isolated incident and indeed the following night they were quiet - so perhaps someone had a word!

I would highly recommend and would go again!

Liked Nice and quiet place, pitches reasonably sized, enough for a 7-meter long Berghaus Air 6 + a car. Nice and clean facilities.

Local attractions

Any takers for a zoo day? At Wingham Wildlife Park (five minutes’ drive), there are tiger experiences and penguin-feeding experiences for the brave sorts. Howletts Wild Animal Park (15 minutes) has over 390 creatures too: anteaters, African elephants and gorillas, to name but a few. There’s a few historic towns around, if you didn’t know… medieval Sandwich (10 minutes) and the former fishing and mining town of Deal (20 minutes) are a couple of favourite spots. Beach, pier, museum or theatre… there’s plenty for all sorts of days out in Deal. Canterbury (25 minutes) must, of course, get a mention. The UNESCO World Heritage Site is packed with historical sites, such as the cathedral dating from 597 AD, Roman walls, the simply gorgeous Westgate Gardens and the ruins of St. Augustine’s Abbey.
