  • Peaceful site in a hamlet on the edge of a traditional village
  • A 10-minute drive to Fordingbridge and the New Forest National Park
  • Half a mile to the local pub via a footpath; walkers' paradise
Getting back to basics is the aim of the game at Ladybird Farm, made up of grassy paddocks set in a small hamlet on the edges of the traditional English village of Rockbourne. Attractions and activities at this Hampshire park are focused on its natural surroundings, with peaceful vibes boosted by a no-noise policy after dark and the facilities extending to toilets and two showers. Local walks are easily accessed too at this site in the Cranborne Chase and West Wiltshire Downs National Landscapes, on the network of footpaths snaking through the surrounding countryside. A row of thatched cottages following the line of the river flowing through the valley is a minute's stroll from the site, too, and a pub serving food and booze is a short saunter away. If you fancy bringing a bit of decadence to your break by dining out for every meal, a couple of other inns are in the villages of Damerham and Whitsbury, both about a five-minute drive or under a 45-minute walk via a car-free trail. Restaurants are in Fordingbridge just on the outskirts of the New Forest National Park (10 minutes’ drive), along with a cinema, a park on the Avon and a supermarket. To source food, head to the on-site honesty shop, which sells honey, eggs, bread and charcoal, or try the village shop in Sandleheath, five minutes' drive away, to bag supplies for the barbecue. Cook up your findings while you get toasty by one of the site’s firepits (logs are also available to buy on base).

What customers say

Ladybird Farm: Peaceful, family-friendly camping with a back-to-basics vibe. Clean facilities, spacious pitches, and great owner hospitality. Enjoy the quiet, though phone signal can be spotty. Nearby walks and pubs are a bonus.

Non-electric grass campervan pitch

Liked A lovely small campsite. We were met on arrival and given plenty of choice where to park. Hannah was lovely and really accommodating. Our two daughters enjoyed playing with others on the site and when it got dark it was silent!!
Toilets and showers were clean and well kept. The cooking area and washing area was clean and well maintained.
This is a small site which is quiet and no frills. It is exactly what we wanted and we’re not disappointed.

Disliked £39 was a little steep for what you get on site. However, I think you pay for it being quiet. The site cannot hold many people… so I suppose it is a bit pricey and you know this is going to be a quiet site. The other benefit is if you had an issue it would be dealt with very quickly by Hannah.

Non-electric grass campervan pitch

Liked Everything! Hannah, the host, sent a text giving us directions and was on site when we arrived. She explained everything and was so helpful and informative about local walks, pubs etc.
Large pitches, so no overcrowding. The toilets and showers were lovely, and there's even a large camping kitchen, where can cook your meals using the utensils and cutlery provided and sit at the dining table to eat.
There is an honesty shop too, providing eggs, bread and local honey, as well as plants that Hannah had grown.
We will definitely be going back

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Myself, partner and two small children had a fantastic 2night stay camping at the peaceful Ladybird Farm. Lovely size pitch for our large tent, car and plenty of space in a safe environment for our little ones to run around and enjoy themselves without feeling overcrowded. Very family orientated and all the children, dogs and other campers all very friendly and respectful of each other. Great to switch off from technology as very little/no phone signal, no wifi and no electricity. We loved this ‘back to basics’ approach !
We had clear skies both nights which we had amazing views of the stars and also saw the star link satellites pass by !
Hannah the owner was absolutely brilliant, messaging us before our stay to introduce herself, she clearly really cares about her guests having a relaxing trip and welcomed us on arrival day to point us in the direction room of all the amenities.
Lovely camp kitchen with stove, kettles, crockery, utensils and communal table (and cool boxes to borrow). Fresh local produce available (eggs, bread, pancake mix, granola, charcoal, marshmallow and home grown houseplants) using honesty jar method or PayPal transfer. Fire pits available to borrow and logs at small cost.
Hot showers and toilets were clean, well stocked and never too busy.
On site wellness massage therapist on the Saturday for very reasonably priced massage in bell tent…made the trip even more relaxing.
Short drive to local village of Fordingbridge with great park and recreation ground for the kids, aswel as local pubs and shops.
Ladybird farm was a really welcoming camp site which we’d highly recommend and we will be returning again for another enjoyable unplugged getaway!!
Many thanks Hannah !!!

Liked Totally amazing site from the moment you arrived felt at home, greeted by Hannah you explained everything about the site.
The site was brilliant as the numbers are limited so no over crowding facilities where just right for the numbers with two loos and showers in a converted Shepherds hut, camp kitchen where could cook your meal then sit at the dining.
Just a lovely friendly site run a lovely couple Hannah and Steve, will 100% be going back

Meadow bell tent

Liked The site was beautiful, clean and had thought of everything. Hannah sent a text ahead of time, explaining how to access the site and what we might want to consider bringing. She is friendly and made it feel comfortable before we'd even arrived.
The site itself was lovely, well laid out and had everything we could need for a couple of nights glamping with two young children. The camp kitchen was clean and extremely well stocked, including tea/coffee/sugar and oil just incase!
We loved spending time down there, meeting other campers and buying fresh local eggs and bread from the honesty shop. The bell tents were spacious, well laid out and just super cosy. Perfect for the children!
The kids also enjoyed the communal toys and playing area in the field- it helped them all make friends with other campers and enhance their experience.

Disliked The tents were great, unfortunately there were ants inside which was a little annoying (but can't be helped!)
Awful phone signal and WiFi which did make it hard when I had a small emergency (the baby locked the keys in the car within half an hour of arriving!). Again, can't be helped but definitely was an annoyance.

Local attractions

Stonehenge is within a half an hour drive's and other historical places of interest are close by – including the Rockbourne Roman Villa Museum just 15 minutes’ walk away. Breamore House (10 minutes) is a prime place if you prefer your outings to include a glimpse of a country pile’s stately paintings and furniture, while the New Forest Water Park (15 minutes) has modern facilities like a wakeboarding centre and inflatable aqua park as well as places to kayak using the available equipment. For swimming instead of paddleboarding, the sandy sweep of Bournemouth beach is 35 minutes south and is reachable on a scenic journey that goes through the lush green Moors Valley Country Park & Forest. If you’d rather stick to the area’s old-school offerings, Salisbury and its spectacular cathedral are about 20 minutes’ drive away and the ancient town of Ringwood with a weekly market dating back to the Middle Ages takes 25 minutes to reach. And of course, there’s not much in the area more ancient than the New Forest, created by William I in about 1079 for royal hunts...
