General

  • Secluded site an hour from London
  • Busy programme of family activities and entertainment in high season
  • Fishing spots, pool, playground, amusement arcade, café and bar

It’s hard to believe that Steeple Bay Holiday Park is just an hour from London; this tucked-away corner of the Essex coast feels wonderfully remote, with its far-reaching watery vistas and sleepy backwaters that teem with birds. Indeed, guests here can congratulate themselves on having impeccable taste: the seclusion of this spot makes it a firm favourite with the rich and famous, who can sometimes be spotted touching down in their helicopters for a stay on Osea Island, just across the estuary of the River Blackwater. Take a boat out from Steeple Bay’s slipway and who knows who you might bump into as you navigate the peaceful creeks surrounding the site...

Steeple Bay Holiday Park has a good-sized, heated outdoor pool with a separate splash pool for those still sporting armbands - and the pretty grounds contain some great spots for fishing, a children’s playground and a sports field (ideal for working off any excesses in the café and Riverside Bar). As it’s a Park Holidays site, Steeple Bay guests also benefit from a fun selection of activities for children in the Loopy Club; the kids’ shows and competitions run into the early evening, and thereafter you’ll find bingo, live music and more in the clubhouse during the holiday season. There’s also an amusements arcade for rainy days.

As for the basics, these are well covered too: you’ll find good showers and loos, a sheltered washing-up area, a launderette, small shop and free wifi in the clubhouse.

The bar and main centre were really nice and an escape away from the elements. Kids loved the arcade. The staff were really helpful.

Beautiful walks along the bay right next to our pitch. The main site was quiet and peaceful.

    Disliked:

The food at the bar wasn't the best, but we cooked most of our food out by the tent anyway.

My friend and I took our 4 year old grandsons for a 2 night stay, on arrival we were greated with friendly staff who gave us clear directions of pitch field, entertainment bar, swimming pool etc,
The boys had a huge field to run around on which they took full advantage, flying kites, ride there scooters, ball games etc, the club had great entertainment for children early in the evening followed by family fun and late disco for the adults, the bar area was very clean and welcoming, the boys loved spending time in the swimming, apart from sand on the bottom of the pool, the pool area was clean and had 2 pool attendants present at all time the pool was open,
We all had a great stay
