  • Small, scenic and rural site in the Rossendale valley
  • Fully-equipped luxury glamping pods 45 minutes' drive from Manchester
  • Wildlife trail, island, stone barbecues, firepits, deer hides and café
Moors, valley, wildlife watching and an island… lose yourself at Rossendale Holiday Glamping for glamping holidays in Lancashire countryside, 40 minutes’ drive from Manchester in the Rossendale valley. A 20-acre site once used for stabling horses in a historic courtyard, Rossendale has been converted to a holiday village by its family team, with glamping accommodation, modern amenities and a friendly vibe in a spectacular rural setting. The site has its own island with stone barbecue and firepit: this is your spot for outdoor dinners, nature spotting and lazing by the river alongside the flames of the fire. The site has been developed as a wildlife haven, home to 4,000 mature trees, a nature trail, bird tables and deer hides… as well as picnic tables for more lazy meals. Walks of varying lengths start straight from the grounds, into the Rossendale valley and the adjacent Pennine moors; the Pennine Way is five minutes' walk away. Accommodation is in camping pods, each with plenty of space outside and a stone table for barbecuing on. Start your day with breakfast at the Hayshed Café, then (armed with picnic snacks to take away), set off among the moors and valley, book a cycling tour around Lee Quarry or pedal off along the local paths, or go sailing or horse riding nearby.

Electric hardstanding and grass motorhome pitch

Liked: Handy location for our visit and no doubt excellent for walks in the country. Showers were very clean, lady in cafe was pleasant. Pitch was okay for our 6m van. Very peaceful location.

Disliked: First part of road up to pitches was both steep and uneven. Asked two people about grey water disposal to no avail! Did feel a bit impersonal.

From the manager: Hello Lee Thanks you so much for staying, we are really happy that you found us very clean and liked our staff. The location indeed is very peaceful and most of our guests do love the abundance of amazing walks from our doorstep. Our site is quite hilly which helps with our lovely views

Electric hardstanding and grass motorhome pitch

Liked: Polite staff, clean facilities

Disliked: 'Pitch' was basically a car parking space with electric hook-up, surrounded by muddy potholes

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Hello Mikaela, Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We are so glad you found our wonderful staff polite, and that the facilities were spotless. We are sorry that you found the pitch muddy. It has been a particularly wet Feb and March and has been difficult for us to keep the wet at bay. That said we have been working (during your stay last week) very hard on putting some extra drainage on the pitch close to the area you were on, this should help the mud! We do have wonderful walks and a lake and a cafe bar that all guests are very welcome to sit in :)

Electric hardstanding and grass motorhome pitch

Liked: Excellent service from start to finish, special shout out to Edwin who is most definitely a young man with many hidden talents and with the most amazing customer service. We booked the electric hook up pitch for our converted Ford Transit jumbo campervan. Perfect location, a beautiful area with so much to see and lots of fabulous walks. The lake was so nice, sat there a few times just taking in the scenery. The shop was an added bonus if only to purchase extra prosecco. Plenty of choice and food delivered to your pitch or pod or wherever you were staying. Toilets and showers absolutely spotless. Definitely be back again.

Disliked: Nothing.

From the manager: Hello Antonia, Thanks for this fab review and stunning pics showing off our beautiful place. Always good to have somewhere to buy prosecco and pizza !! :) Edwin is a very good chap! We look forward to welcoming you again soon:)

Electric hardstanding and grass motorhome pitch

Liked: The young lad who was looking after reception

Disliked: False advertising Not suitable for a motorhome or caravan. Pitches aren’t level and too short. Need 4WD almost to get to them. No access to laundry even tho advertised Dean Lane not suitable for large vehicles. Decided not to stay due to unsuitable spot and the false advertising. Waiting for full refund !!!

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Hello, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are very sorry that we were not for you! Firstly, I must point out that we don't accept or advertise for caravans? We adverise for maximum length 6.5m so fit perfectly. Dean lane has several 10 tonne lorry deliveries a day so its perfectly suitable for Motor homes. Our laundry is a serviced facility only. Open Mon- Friday 9-3pm. I believe you arrived late on Saturday night. We wish you all the best on the rest of your journey.

Local attractions

Walks and bike rides of all lengths start either from the site or very close by, and the Rossendale team can arrange bike tours for guests via local companies. A sailing club is a 10-minute drive away if you’d like to sail or waterski; for skiing (yes, Manchester skiing), a dry slope is within 15 minutes. Hardy hikers looking for longer adventurers can join the Pennine Way five minutes’ drive from the site, on its 286-mile meander from Edale in Derbyshire to Kirk Yetholm in the Scottish Borders. For shorter – but still fairly strenuous hikes – access the 42-mile West Pennine Link near Clowbridge Reservoir in Rossendale to follow it along its path to Bolton, or take the Rossendale Way (41 miles) around the borough border, from Tippett Farm three and a half miles away. A more sedate sightseeing option is the East Lancashire Railway (15 minutes), which runs for 12.5 miles between Heywood and Rawtenstall via Bury and Ramsbottom; meals, a real ale trail, driver experiences and events such as murder mystery evenings are all held too. Also have a look at the Whitaker Museum (15 minutes) for films, open mike nights and art exhibitions. Festivals run regularly in the region too, such as May’s Ramsbottom 1940s Weekend, 25 minutes away.
