  • Peaceful back to basics site on a working Lancashire farm
  • On the edge of Belthorn village; short walk from pubs and a farm shop
  • Gorgeous views and plenty of local walks; dogs welcome on site
Fabulous rural views, stunning sunsets and tons of fresh air… it’s all about the simple pleasures of life at Greystones Farm - Pendle View. Settle in at this small farm site and you’ll be in for a real rural experience, bedding down between fields of sheep and cows and looking out over miles of lovely Lancashire countryside. Based on open farm field at the top of Belthorn, one of the highest villages in Lancashire (approximately 300 metres above sea level), there are views for miles. Given the location, the site recommends you come prepared for all weather conditions. It’s a back to basics setup here, almost wild camping. There are very few facilities, with just a portable toilet, just how many people like it. You’ll be able to organise your pitch as you like though, parking your car there for maximum convenience and lighting a barbecue or campfire for keeping warm and/or cooking dinner. Dogs are welcome to join you for stays here, too, and there are plenty of nearby footpaths and bridleways where they can have a good walk (as can human guests, of course…) Although the views here are very much full-on countryside, it’s handy to note that the farm is in fact on the edge of the aforementioned village of Belthorn, a small and friendly place with a farm shop and a couple of pubs and restaurants for those times when you fancy eating out (or the weather dictates an indoor evening…) There’s also a bus stop in the village with services heading into Blackburn (15 minutes’ drive away) for more extensive shopping and eating options.

Liked The view is fantastic. Pubs nearby and loads of walks. Easy access from the motorway. Our van is quite big so that’s important to us. Site is quite hilly lower down but nice and flat at the top.

Liked The portaloo was very clean, I didn’t need to bring my own loo roll and there was also hand sanitizer 👍🏻
Nice spacious field so not too close to others
Gorgeous views at sunset

Disliked Some noise from road and field behind until 1am but if your chatting or like noise to sleep it’s not too bad

Liked Gorgeous view
Back to basics camping which is refreshing

Disliked We were approached by two workers on a quad bike who were unfortunately quite rude and made us feel very unwelcome. We were asked to bank transfer the remaining balance of our stay which was no problem. However, whilst I was doing so the couple remained staring at us, not engaging in conversation at all, making us feel very uncomfortable. We were then accused of not sending the money over even though we had. We are a group of 3 girls and we camp every weekend around the area and there are many other places close by with great views and kind, welcoming staff. We left not long after this encounter and if we hadn’t paid by bank transfer I would be requesting a refund due to the staff.

Very peaceful and enjoyable stay

Liked Stunning views and very helpful owners. The site was waterlogged so they kindly offered me one of their farm fields to stay in. No facilities which wasn't a problem. Easy communication with them.

Local attractions

Getting out for a walk or a bike ride is often the prime activity that draws people to this part of the world – and there are plenty of great places to do either, including Pendle Hill (half an hour’s drive), Witton Country Park (15 minutes) or Brockholes nature reserve (20 minutes). There’s also the option of heading north into the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (half an hour) for a longer hike if you like. Mixing in a bit of history and culture should be easy enough too – perhaps a tour of the Tiffany glass collection at Haworth Art Gallery (15 minutes), a trip to see the black and white design of Samlesbury Hall (20 minutes) or a wander around the grand National Trust - Gawthorpe Hall (20 minutes). If the kids are keen to see more animals, take them along to meet pigs, feed lambs and walk with wallabies at Mrs Dowsons Farm Park (20 minutes) or set off to see a flying demonstration at the Owl & Bird of Prey Sanctuary (25 minutes). Meanwhile, if you’re on a grownup break, you may prefer to sort a gin experience at Brindle Distillery (15 minutes).
