  • Quiet family-run site just 15 minutes’ drive from Blackpool
  • A 20-minute drive to Preston and 25 minutes to the Forest of Bowland
  • Small and dog-friendly; pubs, shops and cafés 10 minutes’ drive away
Begin by prepping your relaxed outdoorsy outfits and perhaps some coins for Blackpool’s slots, as family-friendly Jalna Caravan and Camping is in a lush spot just 15 minutes’ drive away from the lights of Blackpool. Blackpool will likely bring to mind theme parks – the kind with wooden roller coasters and loop-the-loops, as well as those with water rides – along with amusement arcades, piers, beaches and (if you’re well-versed in the town’s ballroom history) the loud hum of Wurlitzer organ in the Tower Ballroom. All of this is only 15 minutes’ drive away from Jalna Caravan and Camping. It’s quiet in comparison at the small family-run site. Small, well-maintained and clean, and within one mile of Junction 3 on the M55, the site has been up and running for 50 years already. It has all the basic facilities, including electric hook-up, toilets and showers. Dogs are permitted on the site, but they must be kept on a lead at all times. Just down the road are a series of fishing lakes, good news for the anglers among your group. If you’re more food-focused when you’re on holiday, within 10 minutes’ drive of the site are pubs (including dog-friendly picks) and cafés in and around Elswick, Singleton and Kirkham. Get your pastries, coffees and sandwiches from the takeaways, pastry shop and coffee shop 15 minutes' walk away too. There are also two large outdoor car boot sales held regularly in the local area at weekends during the high season.

What customers say

A quiet, friendly, well-kept spot for a peaceful rural escape. David's a legend, super helpful. Toilets/showers clean, usually fine, sometimes busy. Pitches are flat, decent size. Handy for Blackpool, though can get muddy when it's wet, and M55 traffic is audible.

Electric grass and earth touring pitch

Liked - Exceptionally helpful and responsive owner.

- Peaceful, quiet countryside feel

- Great location – easy access to Blackpool (≈20 mins)

- Small site so not overcrowded

- Lovely views over open fields

- Clean, spacious, well-maintained toilet & shower facilities

- Simple, no-fuss stay

Summary: We had to unexpectedly change our plans due to some mechanical issues, and the owner couldn’t have been more understanding or supportive. They responded quickly to my slightly panicked, last-minute messages, which really took the stress out of a difficult situation.

The site itself is lovely. It’s perfectly located, with easy access into the centre of Blackpool within about 20 minutes, yet it still feels like a peaceful countryside escape. It’s quiet, relaxing, and has beautiful views overlooking open fields. It's a small site with approx 6-7 pitches so not overcrowded.

The toilet and shower facilities were also excellent; clean, well set up, and a really good size.

Overall, it’s a no-fuss, easy place to stay and a perfect spot if you want to enjoy Blackpool but retreat somewhere calm at the end of the day. Would definitely return!

Disliked For the sake of a balanced review I’ve really had to look for any “dislikes”, these are genuinely minor, quite personal preferences and wouldn’t put me off returning at all:

- Farm location means there can be an occasional manure smell (temporary and your body seems to adjust and filter it out within about 10 minutes)

- Manual gated access is great for security but could be slightly inconvenient for solo travellers (needing to get in/out to open and close the gate when entering and exiting).

Electric grass and earth touring pitch

Liked We recently stayed at Jalna Caravan and Camping and had such a lovely experience. As we are completely new to caravanning, we were a bit unsure about a few things, but the owner was an absolute gentleman and couldn’t have been more helpful. Nothing was too much trouble, and his advice and support really made a difference to our stay.
The site itself is peaceful and quiet, which made it really relaxing. Everything was very clean and well maintained, and you can tell a lot of care goes into keeping it that way. The modern toilet and shower room was immaculate, which is always a big plus.
Overall, we had a great stay and will definitely return. Highly recommended, especially if you’re new to caravanning.

Electric grass and earth touring pitch

Liked Excellent site at a fantastic price. The owner was extremely welcoming and kindly towed our caravan onto the pitch, as the ground was wet from rain. We would definitely consider staying here again when we are next in the area.

Local attractions

Ticking Blackpool Tower off your bucket list is one thing, but if you’re also an outdoorsy type, hiking over gritstone fells or valleys in the Forest of Bowland (from 25 minutes’ drive) will be just as much of an achievement. This National Landscape has riverside walks, dark skies, waterfalls and cycling paths. If you’re alright with a long-ish drive, the Lake District (from 45 minutes) is also accessible up the M6. Lake Windermere (an hour) is one of the most popular spots closest to the site. Closer to base, however, is Preston (20 minutes). The Lancashire city has a gorgeous cycling path tracing the River Ribble – and for those who want to explore more ground, the Ribble Steam Railway makes a three-mile round trip on a heritage locomotive. Lytham St Annes (20 minutes), back towards the coast, is just splendid too. Two miles south of Blackpool, the two seaside towns have a boating lake, Victorian pier and heaps of independent shops.
